Looking good thus far! I think the one thing that really surprised me when I took my truck apart for the build was how much the Factory wiring weighs! I don't know how the Tacoma compares to the F-150 in that department, but i was pretty shocked.

Can't wait to see more! Best of luck on the build.

I told Jason I'd do the build. I'm nowhere near "professional" level. Just a garage hobbiest with some tools. When we talked I told him the one part I really wanted nothing with was the wiring. LOL I can do it but I just don't have the patience to make it all nice and neat and awesome like it needs to be! So that part we are outsourcing...

I also want to thank Matt at MCM Fab here in Vegas!!! Anyone that needs plate work cut here locally don't hesitate to contact him! Quick turn around on parts, fair pricing and his setup cuts very clean with very minimal slag for cleanup!

These are just tacked in place and yes, I did clean the inside, the outer face will be cleaned up before welding.

    Stuff off the truck!

Not a truck update but a little something we threw together from our Replay XDs in Khris's truck!

Re: TaxPayer Funded Racing - The Duece

Quick update, while Khris is banging away with the first few tubes of the cab cage this weekend, I thought I'd update our revised race plan for the rest of the year. Our original intent was to make our debut at the HDRA Parhump race in October. But since that race came off the table in favor of the August night race at Primm, we had to reconsider our plan.

We wont be able to have the truck ready by August and the next potential HDRA race for us would be the final race of the season at Laughlin in November. Further, we were hoping to debut the truck at a more traditional "desert" race in order to log some quality miles and really put the truck through its paces to see where we stand. As a result, we've decided to make the MORE Holiday 200 in Barstow our first crack.

We are super excited about the SNORE Make a Wish Run in Laughlin though and are shooting for having the truck mostly done in time to participate in that event. In addition to supporting a fantastic cause, it will allow us to shake down the truck a bit and get my wife and I some seat time. That will leave us a solid month for final reace prep to get ready for the MORE race.

By the end of the year we expect to have a good handle on what the 2013 racing landscape will look like and will make our season plans then. A little bummed about the Parhump deal but excited about still getting some work in before the end of the year with a little extra time to prepare the truck.

Re: TaxPayer Funded Racing - The Duece

Well, things didn't go quite as I'd hoped this weekend and I spent a few hours trying to please my fab ego wasting time when I should've just checked it at the door to get it done and make progress since I don't have the name Geiser, Stewart, Newhan, Dump, etc... LOL I fell a little bit short on my personal weekend goals as far as the amount of tube work I wanted to get done but I still made progress.

The rear down bars in the bedcage area already existed so the spread or width where I came into the cab was already dictated which kinda forced some issues. In the end once it's done it'll still do it's job should it ever need to.
