Re: Pikes Peak 2012
I'm helping the Dallenbach Racing/Banks Power team with some of their editorial coverage of the event remotely. I wish I could be there. The car is doing awesome putting 1,400-horsepower to the rear wheels with a twin turbo small block Chevy!!! Their speed was 26-mph faster through the "picnic grounds" in June testing vs last year and this morning they had a good test in Pueblo and it looks to be even faster!!! They have high hopes to take the win!!! Check it out at www.bankspower.com

Race not over yet, but... I am gonna go out on a limb and call RHYS MILLEN the WINNER of 2012 PIKES PEAK HILL CLIMB.... setting new course record, 9:46.181, beating Nobihuro Tajima's 2011 record-settting time of 9:51 by almost six seconds. Today, Rhys beat Swiss road race pro and 24hrs Lemans winner Roman Dumas by .02 seconds.
CONGRATS RHYS!

Millen put up a fast time. But the fastest guys have not run yet. The french guy in the Dacia and Paul Dallenbach were both quite a bit faster than Rhys in practice. I think he will win his division but the overall will come down to Dallenbach and the Frenchman!!!

Re: Pikes Peak 2012
I just got word from Gale Banks that Paul Dallenbach crashed during his run but is ok. Also the Frenchman crashed too. So it looks like Rhys will be the overall winner AND record holder this year!!! Congrats to Rhys and his team!!!!

Re: Pikes Peak 2012
Wait, how come helicopters can follow the vehicles to the very top of the mountain? Isn't it difficult to fly them at high altitudes? Especially when when close to a mountain range, I mean, if it was above a valley it's no big deal; but, near a mountain the wind creates vortices and there is a lot of turbulence. And not only that, air density and just the fact that the wind blows faster at higher altitudes makes it very dangerous. I guess it is just as difficult to get to top by car as it is by helicopter!
