Re: Daytona 500 Race Thread
I would probably shy away from picking RG for any fantasy leagues. They just inspected the Dual engine, and installed it back into the car. So for the time being, it looks like RGM will not be getting a Penske engine. They will start the 500 with the same engine that was down on hp and overheating the entire 150 qualifier...

No worries, at least he has a engine.

Sorry, but I never have and never will understand this mentality. That 7 car is fast in a draft, saddling it with an RGM engine that is down on horsepower and about to blow after 150 miles is a crime. I'm sure Mapei is excited too...
Whats that, you can't lease a motor from Penske if one isn't available to lease? Perhaps that should have been thought of before Thursday afternoon of speed weeks.

Re: Daytona 500 Race Thread
Everyone(especially the Chevy's) are complaining about over heating. Nascar said deal with it. No rule change. That's why I think the Roush motors are going to be dominate. They are designed to run a lot hotter. As far as RG, who knows. He will either cause the first caution, limp around the back, or charge to the front like the last plate race.
Danica impressed me. Took that hit better then most guy's and didn't throw a temper tantrum. Then she lay's down the pole for Saturday. I really hope she can open the door for females.

Re: Daytona 500 Race Thread
now we just have to look forward to hearing 500 miles worth of DW crying about mikey not being in the race and add to that is we have to listen to him as well....
the MRN broadcast will be much better play by play to listen to.
should be an interesting race.

Well, I'd rather try than be a quitter.

Re: Daytona 500 Race Thread
My understanding is in order to get a Penske engine deal you need to sign up for a full season. Penske would not do a part time schedule or a limited amount of races. This is one of the reasons RGM had to start his own engine program last season, which is done under Joey Arrington's company (Race Engine Plus). I understand why RGM is with Dodge, but being with Dodge limits where RG can get engines. For those who dont know Arrington was one of the original engine builders for Dodge when Dodge came back into NASCAR. His Dodge engines have won 2 truck Championships and in 2009 Arrington signed an agreement with Toyota to be a engine supplier for the truck and nationwide series. So Arrington knows his engines, but I think with RGM being the only CUP team using Joey's engines and with all the new EFI and cooling package changes I think it had put them behind the curve in HP.
