Old guys racing
Don't get excited, I'm not suggesting a new class but what about a catagory for old farts, say over 50. The bikes do it and it works. I've only been racing for a year and a half and it is great to set up the pits, do all the administrative work, watch the car go by a couple of times and last but not least write lots of checks. I want to be on the course and be competitive, but there is no way that's going to happen against young guys with their hair on fire. Yes you can sign up as a driver and put a rock star in the seat to put you in the hunt but why not a masters class or sub class?

Experience is everything, its kinda funny every now and then a hot shot young un has "that" accident that makes them a little cautious, As long as they have no fear they are hard to catch, The really fast are the ones who are young AND have experience...
Old guys still rule in my book..
Not just an internet racer!!

Re: Old guys racing
It works with Bikes because all the bikes are all pretty much the same(unlike all the truck/buggy classes) and it takes a whole lot more effort physically and mentally to go fast on a bike than cars or trucks
Age classes are good for bikes but a bad idea for caged classes

Old guys do rule........Turning 59 in April. Looking forward to running the Norra 1000. Last race was over 20 years ago at the Mint.(did 8 miles 2011 norra) Still get that same great feeling when I put my fat ass in the driver seat. Age is all in your head..... go out and have fun " Race life"

All good points, I guess at 60 and a rookie just a little intimidated and don't want to hold anyone up. I'm sure this request will be all over the board but when I ask racers what class they think would be best for an old guy there is no common answer. 8100, 3000, 8, jeepspeed, etc. In your opinions, something that doesn't beat the crap out of you and makes you feel like your racing seriously?

Come race a Trophylite "sofa". At 60 Ramsey and I (he's only 54) are running with the kids and occasionally beating them. We'll get some wins this season, I know it.
When I think my reactions are slowing, or I quit having fun, I'll stop. Experience is a great equalizer, however, the kids seem to be able to get you in the dust. They must have x-ray vision, or they just DGAF.
Prepping and tweaking on the race car for countless hours helps keep you (me anyway) fit and strong.
