Ecotec cheating - what would you do?

My opinion, Not cool , motec 5k , Mephi 1200 new engine 3500 vs 600 for used. Promoters are making money after a race is done (with good amount of entries) Why cant their tech dept check an engine if a protest is filed. Or have a person there that has the knowledge and tools if needed this with a rule of banned for life would detur perhaps.

How many protests have been filed do to motors?

How about match porting your heads...port and polish your throttle body..

better yet make the class run all motec, efi tech, or whatever EFI they mandate then you get a "stock" EFI program loaded into your ECM at theck then at the finish the top 10 cars get checked for the proper mapping and your good to go if you been playing your a DQ.

That's the point of a claimer class, not to catch cheaters but to prevent people from spending beaucoup bucks to start with. There are lots of claimer classes in existence and any one of them could add motecs and such if they wanted but then take the chance someone is going to buy it from them or they're out of the series. The claimer price would have to be high enough so that people aren't claiming motors to get a good deal, but low enough to keep the builds in line with the vision of the class. A turnkey ecotech from the fuel pump to the headers is 7 grand, that would be the ballpark I'd think. If you're not cheating you could take your 7 grand and go buy a brand new engine with all the components. If you're beating everybody with a $2000 motor and they buy it for 7 grand then guess what, you just beat them twice! Once on the course and once in the wallet.

Its just not me making sheet up that teams have said this. Thanks ,I agree they should be protested like P-Diddy has said. But some dont feel its the promoters post techs job to have the tools to check this. So how does this get done. Now we are getting somehere. Ramsey to me NO. Its not worth getting caught but right now theres no way to get caught. Help us figure it out your smart.

You're running in that series, that series has rules, and they have a tech department that includes inspection and ensurance of rule compliance, too. I would think the series would WANT to make sure their rules are being followed, no?

Exactly!! It is up to the series to keep their integrity with their cleints in good standing.

I think the 1st thing to do is get a rule in place that if your caught cheating the sealed engine program you are banned for life from that program. Then get with the promoters to make sure that they can check an engine if protested and possibly random checks from the promoter to keep people honest. Would this really be asking alot for a class that the only rule is engine. Man I wish I was racing this weekend instead of packing. Good luck class 10 looks like a good turnout.
