Re:2002 f150
I have a 2002 ford F150 turning it into a prerunner and trying to find someone to wire it back together either using stock harness or after market. Problem is that I am not rich and everyone I talked to say 2000 3000 5000 for the job. This is not a race truck not necessary to re wire with mil spec wiring. just the daily driver and weekend toy for now keeping stock computer and ecu just need to hook up autometer gauges, race radio, lowrance gps, stereo, intercomm, amp speaker some off road lights, and the basics power windows, mirrors, doorlocks. windshield wipers, ignition. anyone know someone. I am a out of work navy veteran trying to get a 2 year old toy finished. a project me and my father started. thank you for your time and any help is appreciated.

Re: 2002 f150
Have you thought about trying to do it yourself? I would HIGHLY recommend picking up a factory service manual on CD for your truck, which will have a complete wiring diagram as well. It will list every single wire, connector pin out, etc for your truck, and by taking your time and using the diagrams it really isn't too hard. Search on ebay- you can get them for less than $20.

Just teach yourself how to wire, it will save you thousands of $ in the future. Its really not that hard man. Research, research, research, then wire it up. Watch YouTube videos on how to wire, read stuff about it on the net, and you will be fine.

Re: 2002 f150
hey green 787 my name is james with the f150 wiring. you are in pasedena I am in san diego. do you do wiring or know about it. those pictures you sent me were actually decent. yes I could use the help but would not mind doing it myself. i want to hook up auto meter gauges to my computer and all the engine stuff up for street legal. but have many other items to hook up. horn, speakers, stereo, amp, race radio, intercomm, lowrance gps, off road lights, and just the other stuff for a off road truck. can yo suggest the size of wire and the variety of colors I should get, and what kind of fittings and plugs should I get. Thanks for the advice.

Re: 2002 f150
James,
Yes I do wiring, and I can help you here if you like... I collect wire, so I have a huge pile of it that I take from... Probably the hardest part is finding wire in different colors... At the parts houses there is a limited number of solid colors available... I would just visit your local wrecking yard and pull a harness out of just about any car... Then you would have colors like white with a blue stripe, green with black stripe, yellow with blue stripe etc 18ga. is sufficient... You get the picture... People tend to use wire that is too big of a guage for the job... You'll notice the automobile manufacturers use relatively small wire... Probably to save money, and because there really isn't any device in a car that requires a large current... Start by distributing the red power wires 14ga to 16ga.from the fusible link area maybe incorporate a buss bar to do this... Here is one to look at... I use a lot of boat wiring devices to distribute power... They are very reliable because you don't want to loose power out on the ocean, so the manufacturers go a little further with their quality... Find a West Marine store in your area and they will have all the stuff that "normal" cars wouldn't have to wire your off road vehicle...
Once you've installed these two items, hooking up everything else is relatively easy and simple to follow...

Re: 2002 f150
Thanks for the advice and input. I have one of those
Blue sea systems blade fuse blocks. And yes I agree
This isn't a trophy truck so I don't need to go overboard.
Thanks a lot for the advice and all the help. I probably
Don't need all those different colors I am guessing as
Long as I know which one is which. My main issue is
Finding the right wires off of computer to go to
Autometer gauges.

Re: 2002 f150
The sender wires coming from your computer won't run autometer gauges, you will need to add a second set of gauge senders, for the oil psi and water temp. The tach will run off your computer and you can probably get a fuel gauge that will work, you just need to look up what value the factory sender is and order your fuel gauge accordingly. Good luck.
