302 into 1450 Ranger
Hey guys looking at swapping my 4.0l SOHC out of my 1450 Ranger and throwing in a EFI 5.0l, just looking for any thoughts and help I know its been done alot but anyone with any experinces, fab problems, What you thought of the swap, was it worth it etc, Any good suggestions for Engine specs, parts, builders? Want to keep it on Pump Gas so prob around 350hp range would be great.

Ditch the efi and throw a carb on it. Trust me, its a lot less trouble.

That Coyote motor would be sweet in a Ranger, lots or RPMs for the power though.

Re: 302 into 1450 Ranger
We looked at the Coyote and was definetly intrested in that option. My brother is a Master Tech and Worked for an engine builder for a while though and decided we could do an old 302 for half the cost if not less then the new motor. We arent looking for big power so that wasnt a big deal to us were gonna keep it around 350-375hp

Re: 302 into 1450 Ranger
I have walked away, mmm.. more along the lines of ran away from both the 302 and 351, expect to get less out of it than your SOHC unless you actually dump $$ in to it. Stroker kit, heads, headers, manifold, EFI aftermarket system plus ignition system. a 302 is a TERD! the SOHC in a light truck will spank them.
When a man knows how to live dangerously, he is not afraid to die. When he is not afraid to die, he is, strangely, free to live.
With that mentality though, I guess we could also make 2 TT classes for those guys that just can't keep up with the faster TTs. Oh wait.... This is racing. - Dan Vance
