Class 9 will never be the same !

The Tri County Traveling Notary / RACE FUEL sponsored off road team of Giti Gowland will continue its multiple series race schedule for 2012 with its entry into the up coming Ridgecrest, California Race. The team who are the 2011 MORE Series Champions were to cut back on their schedule in 2012 but have already done 4 events this year. The local Ventura, California residents travel thousands of miles each year to do their off road racing in the deserts of southern California, and Nevada.
The 992 car normally campaigned in 2012 by the Bolles / Gowland combo in MORE will have a very special guest driver in it
for the up coming SNORE P.C.I. 300 in Ridgecrest, California.
Former 5/1600 Baja standout, 6000 truck driver, and Legendary RDC moderator, Patrick "P. DIDLEY" Daily, will be starting the race, and running the first half. Still dusting off from his recent MINT 400 trip Patrick is looking forward to the Ridgecrest race and says his knowledge of the area should be a great asset to the effort. Hopefully the slow speeds of the class 9 car won't lull him to sleep. Normally driving in faster , higher horse powered cars, this will be Daily's first race in the class 9 category which is a spec class for vw powered cars with extremely limited rules, relying on driving talents more than high dollar equipment.
Team owner Andrea "Stretch" Gowland said " the addition of secondary drivers this season was a financial one, and in addition the damage to Giti's elbow (sustained in a downhill mountain biking fall, breaking it in 4 places,) he doesn't need to be in the car all race."
At age 56 he is one of the senior class men in off road racing, where youth is a serious advantage.
The team has had mixed results this year with a second at the MORE season opener with Dave Bolles doing the co driving, then a 3rd at the HDRA season opener with Steve Lang doing the first stint, then a devastating 14th ( blown gearbox ) at the SNORE Battle at Primm in a solo effort, then rebounding with a 4th place finish at the second MORE race again with Bolles starting and after a mistake by Giti put the car end over end mid race. The incident was not a result of driving wounded but rather a missed turn in the dust. Gowland continued on to complete the race after the accident. The team now leads the MORE class points battle.
"We are hoping that Patrick Daily's assistance will bring us better luck, and give the oldman's arm some needed rest" remarked Stretch.
The team plans to do all of the remaining MORE and SNORE events in 2012 as well as a few select HDRA events.
After the Ridgecrest race the team will be attending the OFF ROAD EXPO at the Ventura County Fairgrounds April 21-22 where the car will be on display.

Re: Class 9 will never be the same !

You are way too kind Dave, and a little bias too.....
.MAXWELL's car ( Jimmy Taranto's car actually ) is always the one to beat in my mind, then there is that Caudill character, who I had a absolute blast racing with in the BAP till my gearbox locked up...the most fun I have had in a long time......
Then there is that damm green car that's is always lurking around.
It will probably be Brown and us at TOYS FOR TOTS going for the championship in MORE.
I was sorry to see Matt Creveling miss a race, and with no throw outs in MORE take himself out of the running, and then there is the Ventura Brothers who have finally got a handle on things and will be a threat wherever they race.
OK, going back under the car now...................

Giti, we'll see ya at ridgecrest. Have some more fun! Do you know if we have to have team shirts like we do in M.O.R.E. series? Have not heard anything on it. Thanks.
