ZukiBUSA - Suzuki Jeep Based Body with HAYABUSA Engine
Dear All.,
Such a pleasure to get my ID/USERNAME and passorwd after all this time, since my prev email is not valid anymore.
Thanks to Klaus and RDC Admin who made this possible....
================================================== ===================================
Hi to all members.,
Let me introduce myself. I have posted several times on this forum., and certainly I have got many very good advice from the member. I have been in the Off-Road Racing Sport in Indonesia as Offroad Racer for more than 10 years, and currently my passion is building TUBULAR Off-Road Race Car.
As for this post., I would like to post on this forum because I am building the "FIRST In Indonesia" Light-Weight Tubular Buggy with Suzuki Hayabusa Engine. So I need to learn a lot from all of the Member...
Again., my thread is more into GETTING SUPPORT, ADVICE and More INFORMATION., and NOT TO show you all what I am capable of doing nor my expertise. I feel it is important to clarify these, as using english as second language sometimes would create different meaning and perception to you all..
I will post from time to time about some of the car that I have built all of this time.
Why "Project-x ZukiBusa" ???
- ZukiBusa - suZUKI jeep based tubular off-road car, with suzuki hayaBUSA engine
- Indonesia is quite far away from most of the SPEED OFF-ROAD Vendor (USA, UK, etc) - only 22 hours since you board at LAX
- Using Full 1:1 Chassis and Body would weight alot and therefore we have to use big engine > 4500ccm, better suspension, etc
- Big Engine would be heavy and put lots of stress on chassis, suspension, steering, etc
- Cost of maintenance of the Tubular Off-Road Race Car is quite alot
- We do not have FULL SIZE TRUCK such as Chevy, Ford, and those other trucks that can be converted into PRE-RUNNER or Race-Truck
- What we have in Indonesia is Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Navara, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L-200 and comes DIESEL Engine Only !!!
- Need to find alternative Off-Road Racing for week-end and hobbyist
Specification of the "Project-x ZukiBusa" that we are building :
- Using Front Suzuki Escudo Chassis from bumper to Fire-Wall
- Using self made tubular for the rest of the chassis
- Using tubular pipe for roll-cage
- Car will be using Suzuki Jeep Based - Custom Fiberglass Body
- 4 wheel drive using Suzuki based divorce transfer-case
- 2 Seater Suzuki Jeep Based Car
- Front Suzuki Hayabusa Engine Gen-1, from HOLESHOT RACING
- Front using custom made A-Arm, Suzuki Open differential Center Housing, target 16" total travel with coil-over KING SHOCKS
- Rear using Suzuki Solid axle, limited slip differential, target 16-20" total travel with coil-over KING SHOCKS
Wish me luck guys, 'coz I really need it...

Re: ZukiBUSA - Suzuki Jeep Based Body with HAYABUSA Engine
have PMd you but the hayabusa is a brilliant engine, so much support for them.
Im not sure about the front 1/3rd of a chassis then go tube just seems silly to me. Better to go with all tube.
Use proper roll cage tubing for a roll cage, im expecting this is what you mean but when ever someone says pipe to me i think of water pipe.
There are a couple of cars in Australia you may wish to look at, one is a prolite (small engine buggy) using the hayabusa in the rear, very quick and very light. The other is a Suzuki Vitara/Escudu (?) running independent suspension all round, its in the production 4wd class i believe but in the tight stuff it rocks. The were using it as a chase car at a local rally, they had to keep backing off the competing rally cars because they kept catching up after a 3 minute head start.

kinda curious, why is this in the fabrication forum?

I owned a 2 seat race buggy with a Hayabusa power plant for a time. It was significantly different than the picture I have in my head of what you're describing, but none the less if you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll fill you in on the shortcomings as I found them as well as the advantages. It's a killer engine, and I wouldn't put it by a turbo busa powered, lightweight standard spec (wheelbase, track width, wheel travel) buggy competing with the big boy classes.
I'll be curious to see how you mate the drivetrain together. Anyway, I've got a picture or two in my user gallery and a video on my YouTube account, username 'WisdomRacing'. Good luck
Hope is the first step on the road of disappointment

Something like the one in this utube or fully independant suspension.
Space frame and independent would be lighter maybe.
