    another few ?'s

Ok guys getting really close here to done with all these sorta important items. Thank you all for all the great help and advice that comes from you all. Turning brakes? I have them in my car but i am not sure wether I even need them for desert racing. I could see it in s/c but other than locking up the loose tire if you were stuck would they be more of a hassle to have than help? I am ready to just take them out and install a tee fitting and just have bias brakes and forget all this. And if any of you veterans of this class have a bit of time to talk on a phone to maybe give me some more answers and advice on a couple of things on a couple items that would be cool and I will not bug the crap out of you 10 times a day either just looking to show up with a solid prepared car to come and race as a new guy to this class.
couple of other things i want to do right.

Roof latch system what is legal and safe and what is super trick?

    What battery(s) are you using

brake shoes : woven lining or just a HD commercial lining?

thanks again in advance all the help.
    Darrin

    Re: another few ?'s

Just to add one questions I have: What are the "legal" rims to run in Class 9? I think the SCORE rule book calls for VW steel rims, but see some competitors running aftermarket steel rims.

Is there a minumum weight or is the material all that matters?

custom and commercial on the wheels available at KARTEK
use reg shoes WOVEN shoes eat drums, shoes are cheaper than drums, and you dont use brakes much in the desert.........
steering brakes are nice but a ** ĦAy, caramba!**** ĦAy, caramba!**** ĦAy, caramba!**** ĦAy, caramba!**** ĦAy, caramba!** to bleed out..........

    Re: another few ?'s

Batt: Space and weight will dictate batt size but get the most CCA's you can. If you have a batt box, get one that fits but IMO stay with a sealed cell. If your building a box and need weight in the car you might as well have usable weight theus a larger batt. But be sensative to where you put it, especially in a 2 seater, think weight balance... The "Airborne" cells from Batt Sales Ult in Glendora CA are nice dry-sealed units, we've used the lawn/garden type also and they work well. Remember to cover the pos cable terminal, it's a stickler at tech.

Brakes: Type 3 and I always liked woven shoes because I feel they stop better and we look at drums as consumables. Plus they were bent or cracked before they wore out. Woven shoes/pads work best when warm so dragging a pedal slightly before you need them helps...

Turning Brakes: Have had them in cars and never used them...

I apologize for this comment; what I intended to say was: Turning Brakes: "Have had them in 9 cars and never used them".
