The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is gearing up for their inaugural appearance at the Wild West Motorsports Park, August 25th-26th in Sparks, NV for the Toyota Silver State Showdown Presented By Fox Shox. As each driver fights their way through the 15-event 2012 series towards the championship, Rounds 11 & 12 are sure to be a shoot out to the end.
"Norm Dianda with Q&D Construction and the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitor's Authority have been great partners in bringing the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series to Reno Sparks," said Alex Striler, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lucas Oil Off Road. I snuck out to the course yesterday to get a firsthand view and the elevation change is insane! I cannot wait to see all of my favorite drivers skying it out off of the huge ski jump, it is going to be so rad. Sunday the 26th is my birthday and I have a bunch of friends coming into town to celebrate and hit up the race. Can't wait!

So I got a chance to come out to Reno 1st hand and check out the facility. 1st impression on the landscape Chula Vista x 2! The hills and terrain are EPIC. Tony Vanillo states the track will be 1.2 miles in length which will be longer then any other track on the circuit!! Super long straight. Massive uphills and down hill drops. This track will be the best track on the circuit even better then Lake Elsinore IMO.
Massive D9's and D10's are getting after it here.
We seem to always have an issue getting K Rail. Not this time. Tons are stacked up and more to pull from.
As I pull up to the facility I was getting a Chula Vista type feel.
The D10s just smash through anything.
It looks rough but this is where the pits will be. Glad I'm here to take a before and after shot.

Tony Vanillo says this could possible be an additional viewing area and will be a photo guys dream landscape shoot.

Im currently staying at the Silver Legacy Hotel and Casino 8 minutes from the track!!!!!. This hotel is pretty nice and I would recommend it plus Alex Striler and Lucas Oil hooked up some insane deals for the racers. If your a team with a ton of equipment/ trucks and haulers I would stay at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino as the parking lot is much larger. If you want to be close to the track and enjoy Reno at night and want to pamper the wife then I would recommend the Silver Legacy. Both hotels are nice and close to the track.
