    Re: Race/Pit Radio Questions

I think I am starting to understand now. Pci doesn't sell modded ham radios, they sell commercial/business band radios.

I agree on supporting pci. That's why we used them for all the truck stuff, including helmets. But I splurged a bit too much and didn't have much left for the pit radio!!

A kind RDC member offered me his used pci kenwood for a good price so that's the route I'm going to go.

    Thanks a bunch guys!!

    Re: Race/Pit Radio Questions

This thread seems complicated to me.. I run all PCI items, a Kenwwod in the car and I use an Icom chase radio with a mast antenna for main pit. It has worked fine for all the loop races we do.

The main thing is to use the right tool for the right job. If you are on a budget like most of us it is hard to find a good
affordable Race radio. One way is to pick up a used or refurbished radio. You can pick them up from $250-$500 and 45watt -110watt radios.

I am a big fan of the Kenwood radios. Here is an example of a pit radio setup I have put together.
