I totally agree, but when someone posts that the class has always been the same etc, I have to disagree. I to am sad to see the motors change. I have been a life long diehard VW person in many forms of racing.

I think the only thing that sucks worse than the motor change to different makers is putting all my time and effort into the car and showing up to see 1 other car in the class.

How many class 5U just raced in last weekends race? It was in Baja.... home of the VW right? That would be a ZERO, big egg, nadda, zip, nix....


And on a way better note... Dave, can you post up a few photos of your 5U.. what it started as and what it is today? Its amazing to see how long of a race history the car has

We didnt catch you! You did win! But we had one of the best times ever that day in the car! I think we cut down your lead from 30 min to 4 min the last lap! Thats the one time I drove the car to its limits and mine! Didnt have the wallet attached to the gas pedal that race! I still will never forget two things from that race! 1. My co driver called out the wrong mile marker! This caused Jim to push hard as well think we were closer than we were!!! We were all on the same radio freq and listening to you freind and competeters pits going wild trying to find out where you are on track was priceless. Even better know it was a mistake was the topper! 2. Then taking out 50 feet of snow fence at the finish line having it melt on the roters lol. When you run out of talent going 5mph through the finish line shcane in front of everyone, you have to admit defeat! Jim and the desert beat me that day!!!!
