Make it 2.6 liters; no forced induction; any VW water cooled motor; any number of cylinders; any petrol-based fuel...and I'll support it. I believe the RPM limiter (7500 RPM) will be hard to enforce and may add cost if the organizations require a RPM data logger to enforce the limit...the rules still need to be simple to enforce.

No on the 6cyl Frosty. Pretty sure NOBODY that currently owns a 5 car is on board with that idea.

2.5 is a good limit. It is no forced induction. It is any fuel. It is any 4cyl VW engine.

Arrangements have been made to provide any organizations that adopt the new rule with the required tools to inspect the engines at no cost to them. Checking RPM's is simple and does not require a data logger.

The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

Ah yes the almighty Score I could care less what the Score rules are as I have no intentions of racing in Mexico. Plus with a tech guy like Savage you can follow ALL the "rules" and still be illegal. There are plenty of great races in the states. Heck with Vorra and Hdra putting on some cool new races I may never race Bitd again......on second thought I plan on racing V2R again! Love that race!! However I'm not too keen on Casey changing the rules back and forth every couple years.

    Re: Class 5 only

Wheezy you dumped all over me when I mentioned class 3000 but I don't know what was so stupid about that! You can win with a class 5 front end in that class. Don't just keep saying IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Just look what happened when Jim went and raced in 3000. He won. If you can't afford to race in 5 but you think putting in an eco tech will fix everything I still say just race in 3000 and leave us alone. Your car with an ecotech will fit into that class. YOU CAN WIN IN 3000 and it will be cheaper for you to buy new motors so you should be happy. Also I wouldn't talk about how easily Varshays can beat us without even trying. Jim might be able to say that but nobody else can. We've been beaten by other people but I always felt we were competitive except Jim. The Mint 400 was a fluke we were down 1-1/2 hours because we threw two belts and only had one spare. We would have been way up. But I shouldn't even argue about that I just didn't like hearing it.

Well I guess it's time for me to step on toes...I think the only change we need in Class 5 is to gt rid of Wheezy. I just saying It seems what ever is said, he is against it. Come on Wheezy let's go racing... You want to come out to the V2R with us?

You might be right? An open V6 is not the solution, only a sealed one... Not that I even care about an RPM limit...But HOW THE HELL are you gonna measure that? I really think it is a dumb idea anyway...just random numbers you are pulling out of the air...same with displacement...this is all about your ECOTEC...I know you want to get folks out racing in the class, but this idea isn't solving anything really. Your present vision is flawed and doesn't have enough merit as you presently offer. Are you talking to Bill Savage on this yet? What does he say?!?! Just adding a open engine option won't help level the playing field at all. It will require a sealed engine... I give up for now... Gonna go watch the TORC series on TV where they went with a sealed V8 to compete with the open 4 cylinders...

This is not an average Joe class so why make it? 5 cars are cool and thats why guys build them! I've softened on the water cooled idea but not on sealed motor for Unlimited class. I like the Suburu engine as an option. Limit cc's and compression ratio to keep cost down and nothing else.

AJ and Steve's arms are ? but I think that they meet rules as I read them. We switched to Latest Concept arms and they have been solid
My position is that I like the engine option thing as long as it makes sense. It should not be at the expense of the hard core VW class 5 guys. I have an interest in growing the class, I have one, so involves me. I had an opening in my schedule (last minute) and could have run Caliente but there was no other class 5's? WHy race? But, could have won and got a trophy!

As for the average Joe thing: Do you get paid to go race? Probably not. Makes us all amatures. The fact that we don't get media exposure and that few outside of this forum know who Jim Anderson, Drew Belk,Jim Varshay, A.J Martin or Steve Alexander makes us all Ave. Joes! This is a Ave Joe class!

Yes, racing is expensive. Pick a class that is more affordable: To run up front in any class whether it be 1/2-1600, 10, 12 5 etc. is all about the same. 12k in blown T1 motors has kept me from racing as well as many others.

I suggest we create a class 5 competition committee to iron out this motor thing. 100 pages on RDC, it's up to us to grow the class.

I second this idea...the mob rule on this freakking thread is not cutting it!! I have three suggestions/nominations, if you will...

I nominate Steve Alexander, but he needs to realize this is not just a BITD issue, but must work with ALL the larger organizations to move this...

    Also nominate Jim Varshay...JRV

I would have voted for Jim Anderson, but DAMN, he just sold his freaking car, so game over...or can he be involved by driving his newly lost prize for someone else? OK...he's back on my nomination list!

Last request...Wheezy needs to sit on the side lines and not be a voting member...just as I would not be elgible...not currently racing in class, NO VOTE!!! I guess we should only be "consultants"?!?!? LOL!!!
