Question , Does class 5 need a change to get the entries up or not , simple yes or no

At first I bought the majority wants it left alone, but now I'm not so sure ( Everyone I've talked to say they want something to change) , so why dont we start this way and see what develops

I think we all want the class to change in one way or another , There are a butt load of these race cars sitting on jack stands right now(including mine) . And I think we are figuring out who just wants to race themselves . Matt Mead may be able to come up with the list of all the five car owners when we started the coalition , maybe we should see how many are still around and at least get them involved in the conversation if nothing else

Wheezy that is your LOUD opinion. I also understand there are a few other voices saying the same thing, but that does not make it the right way to go! I can also shout ECOTEC is never going to happen!

One last thing...BITD is NOT the place to start anything...true, it is a respectable series, but SCORE is usually the guys to make sweeping changes accepted by everyone else (sanctioning bodies)...for better or worse. Casey made the Ford water cooled sealed engine change in Class-12, not accepted anywhere else, as an example!!

FWIW: I've beaten half the names on that list for the overall season points in MORE. But then again, I've had the floor for a long time and am the one that started this debate so I also give the floor to the other gentlemen that have a dog in this fight. I'm good friends with Bills son, wonder if it's like all other politics; more about WHO ya know than what ya know.

I agree , We need to hear from all of class 5, I think , If you own A class 5 Race Car , We need to hear your opinion !! at least that is my thoughts

my opinion let the eco,s in "as i choke saying this lol"but it seems like a good way to build the class .i will vote no on the vw 6 banger.but i dont want rule change tell 2013 .2.4 ecos only with no restrictions thats the only way il vote on this .the ford motor in b.i.t.d was all politics .il be real surprised if this will make car counts go up but i guess will see, what can it hurt .b.t.w my name is steve griffith .

No, it has always been a VW class, air or water cooled. While you guys are at it, maybe you can change 5/1600 and 1-2/1600 to Ecotec also - you know anything for more entries. Oh, don't forget to include Class 11.

What is wrong with moving your love of ECO cars to another class. Mix your love of Baja Bugs with it in the class that you choose.

If T4's are your fear, run a T1.

2.4 ecos only with no restrictions thats the only way il vote on this .

Having another unlimited motor in the class will not help anything...in any form. That already exists and parts are still available...race gas is expensive though.

I expect we need a crate or sealed/stock motor which can run pump gas and produce EQUIVILANT power to a uncorked T-4...otherwise there is no benefit to a engine "option" rule change...

Unlimited T-4s and parts are available, so we don't want to make them obsolete with a whole new unlimited powerplant, that's not at issue here; don't want to take away a guys competitive option with present rules and make their engines obsolete; and another unlimited 4 cylinder will still have high costs and unknown HP/Torque limits...changing the established class base-line.

That was the cool thing with the ECOTEC in class-10; and the 9:1 compression 2120/2020cc T-1 in class-12...they both make compatible numbers on pump gas to the FAT and Wiks (etc.) "works" motors in the classes...That was the formula, not a change for change's sake. A change that left the current setups relavant and offered a competitve option for those who wanted to go race a little more econimically and fully competitively.
