Pretty sure it had been discussed over on the MORE race talk forum, and here in this thread like 80 pages ago. Should be a great turnout!
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

Sounds awesome. MORE always puts on a good race and the last SNORE race we ran in was very well orginized. Glad we found this out now. We were not planning on prepping for a night race. Looks like we better get busy on mounting and testing some new lights

You guys should give some of the new LED's a try. They worked out killer on the new Raceco 10 car.

If we can close these areas down during a race, you could expect better spectating.
Yes I understand that, and I think it is actually a good thing. We race in the middle of the desert. There is no way to control what happens in the middle of the desert. You can't put barriers and fences along 30, 40, 50 miles of open desert course. There is nothing keeping Mr. 4x4 Jeepster from leaving his house in Corona on a Friday night to go camping in the desert for the first time. He drives out on random dirt roads for miles until he finds a random spot to set up his tent and enjoy a weekend of peace and quiet in the desert. He doesn't read Race-Dezert.com, he's never seen desert racing on TV, he has no idea what our little niche sport is about. Then, all of a sudden, at 7AM Saturday morning he hears a 750HP TT ripping through the desert right past his camp! After 20 trucks and buggies he realizes there is some kind of race going on. He either gets pissed and leaves, or sits back and watches while he enjoys a couple beers from the cooler he brought with him.
My point is that it is open desert. On any other day of the week it is 100% legal to crack open a beer in the middle of nowhere out on the dirt. All of sudden it is now illegal to drink alcohol in the middle of the desert. I could understand if you bought a ticket and you had to enter into a private facility like a stadium that you could control alcohol sales and consumption, but this is different. It was really silly seeing BLM, Sheriffs, local police, and volunteers actively PATROLLING the main pits looking for people drinking in the open desert. They literally drove by our camp once every 10 minutes to check.

SNORE has a VERY restrictive rule now...Zero-tolerance policy on drinking in the pits...done. If they hear of an active team is drinking during the race outside of the pits and then wander back in...instant DQ for both offences. They did it at Laughlin in DQing a few folks after they continued to drink after being warned! Their insurance and the BLM in Nevada has put the smack-down on SNORE, so they are forced to have these rules...joe-public on the other hand is only answering to the BLM...whatever random rules they make...
There is also no public access to the pits at SNORE races and they require every vehicle to have stickers and every indivigual to have pit access wrist bands. If a team does not comply...instant DQ.
It suddenly becomes a self-policing thing as no one wants to be DQed by their friends for breaking the rules set down to satisfy the BLM and insurace carriers...
Painful, but the days of being able to stand on an active course are long over. In NV, the BLM poilces the whole course and hands out $350 tickets for violating the special land closures...not sure what is going to happen at Lucern though...

It doesn't suprise me that RaceCo is using LEDs. He builds some pretty nice high end stuff. The fab work on that 10 car is beautiful. Jamie is a very nice guy and humble for someone with so much talent.
We have had LEDs on the car since after the 2011 mint. We currently run HIDs and LEDs but we are testing the bigger LEDs. We have 10" 20" 40" and 50" bars as well as a few different configurations of smaller LEDs in every color configuration available. It will just take a while to get through the various options to find what works best for the car.

The big HID's make a lot of sense for a big unlimited Class 1 car. The ONE time I ran them on the 5 car with the type 1 I felt a noticeable difference in top end speed. It was like having a sail on top of the car. I picked up a small LED bar to replace to the 3 smaller HID's I had down low for daytime running / dust light. I'm considering picking up a 40" for main lights to reduce load on the alt/electrical system and the obvious reasons of weight and wind resistance. Pretty sure I can't out drive the output from that combo either.
Any other 5 guys make the switch?

This could cause a lot of problems for some teams that think they're above the law out there. I wonder how long until some enterprising young lad starts taking high resolution telephoto pictures for profit? Haahaa. In all seriousness, it'll never be what it used to be in the US.
