    Re: Class 5 only

I'm not going to give away too much, but I promise you, the C5C site WILL be a place for all baja bug enthusiasts to hang out. From racers to casual play car guys, the site will offer something for everyone. I'm just swamped re-branding a television station right now. Once that's done, and I clear up the six websites I have in production I will focus like a laser on the C5C site. It WILL BE AWESOME!

The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

Wheezy, I am sure you will do a killer job like all of the other work I have seen you do, you should try to create the websites atmosphere like Desertrides. I like how easy going and open everyone is on DRides.

I think I can speak on behalf of the Class 5 Precepts team when I say...can't keep up on this forum. If ever a coalition/bbq/Class 5 group photo or whatever actually comes to fruition, somebody shoot us an email. Would love to see more than 3 entries in a race, quite frankly if you are air cooled, water cooled, or using jet fuel, you can argue torque and horsepower all day long but all it takes is a flat tire or a blown turn to ruin the fastest guys race. Strap a VW hood to your riding lawn mower, don't really care, just come race!!

We will be (Lord willing!) at the Midnight Special (formely Chili Cook off) in September...hopefully we will see some of you guys there!

    As always well said .

as far as getting the coalition going again , there are some guys steppin up and working hard at it , Hopefully we don't start off like we did last time and I believe we won't , just have to stay away from the big race series deal , maybe a couple of races a year and more than that, a place where everyone knows who the teams are and what their race plans are as well and just maybe we will see some entry numbers start to move up.

Who knows what will happen with this motor option deal , but if a sanctioning body picks it up , thats where I'll be racing, but until then I'm gunna dust off the beast and race a few

Post is kinda losing momentum again. I agree with Erik on keeping the class 5 coalition site easygoing like desertrides. No disrespect, but always thought the class 5 coalition was more of a SoCal club that raced in Barstow. I think a link on RDZ and desertrides + group on Facebook would be easier to follow. My concern is that this momentary surge in interest (cl5) fades away after the Midnight special / CC race. Several cars get changed to h20 and the class dies again, because most sanctioning bodies don't recognize the rules. Thoughts?

    Re: Class 5 only

Sorry to go back to this engine thing but I've been thinking long and hard about the water pumper debate. It seems like the people are somewhat accepting the idea of allowing a water pumper 4 cylinder engine as an allowance to run in class 5. What has not really been discusse much is beyond the allowance of a water pumper what would be acceptable. I believe that a stock sealed ecotec is not the only key and would be an obvious disadvantage but a good reliable option. This would keep the type 4 racing engine at the top of the list for best engine option in the class (which in that respect would be a good thing). I also believe that there are some options out there that would be slightly better than the ecotec in comparison to a type 4 racing engine. One thing that concerns me however is the UNLIMITED 4 cylinder water pumper engine. In my opinion for the water pumper option to work, the hp should not be allowed to go past what a high performance type 4 engine puts out (between 275 and 325 hp to the crank). I know I'm gonna get some flack for this but I have to say it. if you make the water pumpers unlimited people running type 4's are going to be at a disadvantage from a reliabilty standpoint and a performance standpoint. Having 4to 500 hp 4 cylinders will change the baja bugs that we see racing today. Limiting the hp on the water pumpers to be the same as a high performance type 4 will keep them physically the same looks wise, parts wise, and handleing but you wouldnt have to be worrying so much about an engine failure. Now I get that this is 5 unlimited so we shouldnt limit the engine but there needs to be some type of middle ground or comprimise other wise the people still running type 4's are going to say "f this, this is bs and I'm out". Sorry about kicking this horse again.
