Ya, it's great until you end up with 4 or 5 in one and 2 or 3 in the other vs 8 running together. But it is what it is I suppose. Gotta get the tip in first.
Rick, I know you're currently working on a few cars. Are ALL of them intending to race? What about YOU, when you gonna come racing with us?!?!?!
I have a feeling next season is going to be absolutely epic!
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.

If it's what we have to do than it's what we have to do
Hey guys this is the rules that were submitted to all of the race promoters and organizers. We added weight and numbers because we were asked to by a race promoter. Remember you class 5 guys can run with us.
Rules for Class 5 B
Follow Score Rule Book Class 5 Rules EXCEPT FOR engine displacement (CR23).
(CR23) Engine displacement is as follows:
1) All 4-cylinder water-cooled engines must be 2500cc or less.
2) Engines May Not exceed 7500 RPM.
3) No Turbos and No Superchargers.
4) All air-cooled engines are open.
5) All transaxles are open.
6) All vehicles must maintain a beam and 105" wheelbase.
7) Weight Minimums and Maximums follow Score Rule Book Class 5 CR33 Roll Cage classifications.
8) Vehicle Numbers shall stay the same and shall have a 'B' added after the number.
Now did I mention NOW. We are trying for chili cookoff. But I am building other vehicles in the mean time. Agree about epic. This has been along time coming. I found out in one day and boy did I.
Hey wheezy, thanks for posting that ORA baja in the dunes. It very clear its not a true baja. It didnt leak, and it didnt drop holes as it went up the sand hills. Other than those two small details, it sure looked and sounded great!
A problem with posting on RDZ or any other forum is that it is open to the public. There are many people weighing in that have no class 5 car or are nostalgia fans that don't understand the expense with running air cooled engines these days. Perhaps another forum like a Class 5 only "group" on Facebook would be a better idea.
Thanks to T-Bird this thread has caught fire. I believe 90% of us want to grow the class and have more competition (better cars). Yes, there are a few on this forum that are "looking out for their own interest" whether it be keeping it air cooled or those that want to run a particular engine. But, on the most part the idea is to gain some entries back in class 5. Other than the Mint, when was the last time 10 cars showed up to one race? Like I said all along, I like the H20 option as long as it doesn't affect the T4 crowd and still feel the best engine option in the class is the T4.
Bottom line is racing by yourself is like dry-humping. Right?
Ramsey, thanks for the input and for quoting my quote (partially). Here it is again....in full. I for one and everyone except Wheez (joking bud) are NOT trying to eliminate air cooled power. We just want to race more and we think by "offering" an alternative engine package that there WILL be more cars racing more often. I myself am on the fence whether to go T4 (thanks Jim Anderson) or to go Subie. BUT, I want to race where there are class 5 cars showing up. Isn't pay out in BITD only if 4+ cars are entered in a class? And yes, I raced back in the day when 25+ 5 cars would enter the MINT. I know nostlgia.
