Class 5 only

Pete you make a very good point. However, the 5b class will not be a sealed only class. It is open to mods in the engine. must stay 2.5 liters or less and not rev past 7500 rpm. I will probably stay stock so if theres a higher count in 3000 I'll take a stab in that class again. I would say the subaru will probably be the best motor handleing wise and power but I guarantee the ecotec will still be by far the best bang for the buck.

btw....what is the new engine option that is going to REVIVE class 5 and have 26+ new entries???? i cant seem to figure it out....i only see nonsense and bitching.......and we in class 3000 made a rule for class 5s to race in, beam cars can be 105.5 with a sealed ecotec.....what could be a cheaper, more reliable, economical, more powerfull per dollar powerplant then that....and its what class 10 and 3000 use so its easy to get tech help and info from all the others that run it?????

NO BRAINER....(for me)....ecotec is cheapest, they are bullet proof and the 2.4 has great power, light, parts and accesories READILY available, and when the whole 5b falls apart you can race in 10 OR 3000 ANYWHERE......and the class 5 with an ecotec is very close competitive wise in 3000....i.e. NO BRAINER...

Well I can't say I am 100 % on board. I like the original concept of the rule book, but understand that things have financially change for everybody to race and power plants and gearboxes is everyones biggest expenditure. I guess it's the total package and prep that wins races beyond the powerplant. When I decided to run this class I new the motor cost and maintance was something that I needed to commit too financially. We got 2000 + test/race miles out of our last motor so I don't really have any complaints there. So for now I too want to yank my car off the jack stands and get it going again and race more cars. So if it's 5u or 5b it is what it is. I myself would not trade my T4 for anything else...it's awesome ! We are collecting most of the parts I need to try and get it back together for Sept 8 race and well see how this thing all shakes out.

Not really sure if you want an opinion catagory but it would be beneficial and good competition if class 5 open cars raced against class 3000 cars. Class 5 is the coolest class by far in my opinion but there needs to be some changes made to bring back the competition to the class. These 2 classes are both very close in speed, and the competition and rivalry between the 2 classes could be very excititing. I've talked about this before on a thread and at this point class 3000 racers dont want to race heads up against 5 unlimited big t4 engine race cars. I'm nobody between either class but if I was I would re evaluate the decision. I have a 5 open type car with an ecotec, and would love to be racing against 5 open and 3000just for the reason of having alot of race cars to compete against. Ive talked to a few 5 open racers and they were totally open to racing against cl 3000 when I brought this up but I'm sure there are 5 open racers who arent. i'd just be tired of racing 4 to 6 racers on a regualar basis if i were 5 open.

Class 5's are sooooo cool to drive and they get lots of looks! Tom you missed to boat on one bad black 5 car! Having sellers remorse right now. Now that I am moving out of Class 5 I still believe that 5's and 3000's should race together. Let each class keep their points, but race together for bragging rights and get more competition. I truly believe that they are equally matched and neither has a major competitive advantage.

Even Jim Anderson got into 'frey'. Engine option GOOD idea. But let T4's live on!

Uh, Rick- You brought up Seeley and said he stopped racing due to money. I just happen to know that isn't why he originally stopped. As far as who built the car, We both know who started it, who worked on it, and who finished it. That is not in question. And it is for sale. Probably a great buy to the right person. I would like to see Seeley race it at the 1000 this year, but it isn't happening. Too bad. Great car for the Peninsula. Next time you want to accuse someone of gossiping, better delete your original post on the person.
