Cant agree with you more! I know I would not want to look at a trophy and know the only way I could win that was to cheat! And if you run the higher rpms the engine wont last, so it wouldent make it benifical to do that if your doing it for cost savings!

Couldn't agree with you more !!! but some were conserned that there would be some dum arse that would show up with some kind of a crazy F1 style 14000 rpm motor , doubt that in class five, so the rule was put there to just to make it clear not to show up with something like that , I mean really kinda doubt that someone would show up with a $90,000.00 2.5 ltr. four cylinder in class 5, besides there is no trans in the world that could handle that in the desert . But thats why we put in in there

I know where you going Pete , 1) Nobody wanted sealed engines , if we wanted them sealed we would race 3000 or 10 . Answer me this, If you had to choose between 3000, 10 or 5 and they all had sealed engines , would you choose class 5 ? 2) Although there had to be some kind of cap , Didn't want to limit an unlimited class . 3) If Pete Sohren can get most of the 5b cars racing over with his baja lights sure does raise the purse and interest in 3000 doesn't it ? just my thoughts

250hp w $3000 rebuilds every 4,000 race miles in a 5u chassis = heaven. That's all there is to it. You're thinking too much, stop it before you have an aneurism.

Way more fun than super squishy slightly underpowered vehicles IN MY OPINION.
