Peter: You bring up a very logical point. I believe the idea was to also introduce the Subaru boxer style engine. Perhaps you could help make this an option along with the Ford powerplant in class 3000. The nice thing here, each owner can decide for themselves.

You might be right; many people think we are messing this thing up. The two things that everyone agrees is 1) We don't want to lose the T4 guys 2) Two year test. 2013-2014. You make a good point about running a sealed ecotech tho.

Pete:
He meant that a 2.5 liter subaru would be less money and more reliable, with less service, than running a $10,000to $20,000 type 4 engine, not an ecotec. Your ecotec is an option in the engine allowance and in my opinion the most cost effective option. In addition the subaru is also a cost effective and good performance engine in comparison to a fully built 3 liter type 4 (this is the idea).
You can argue that this option will ruin the class. But to me there's nothing that is going to hurt a class that at this point has NOT had more than 25 total 5 cars in every race this year combined and thats counting the 5 cars racing multiple races. What can it hurt the class is non existant.
Why'd you get out of the class? Was it because they werent fun to drive, too expensive, too little competition? What was it? Not talking crap just sincerely interested in what your reason was when you traded out to another class.

i never said you were ruining a class......but be logical when trying to revive it.......about why i left 5: hhhmmmmm, built a business and made $$$$ beyond my WILDEST dreams, help build a brand new TT with my friend of 20 years and went RACING, and competed at the HIGHEST level of my sport......then spent it all, haha......if you know anything about me, i was the FASTEST when i was a kid in class 5, when we had 25 to 30 cars, i was FEARLESS....built a state of the art car at a place called DIRTRIX.....always on a shoestring budget but i worked hard and drove hard.....class 5 is/was a great class, but cost the same at classes that still have good numbers to race against, so people all left.....class 1 probably CHEAPER if running a stock ls, then running a pumped type4.....no brainer for most right there..

SteveOwe - Couldn't have said that better my self. This is exciting guys we have alot of exitement with these new engines. We talked to Outfront Motorsports and CBM Motorsports these guys will be posting prices for their engines Monday or Tuesday on this topic (Class 5 Only). The prices are extremely affordable. Remember Class 5 guys are welcome to run with us.

Hey Pete - Would love to have you put one of these Class 5 b car together and come and run on any given weekend with us and show us how you can make a car dance. Come and have some fun with us. It would be a pleasure to run against you. George Seeley and Dave Bonner want to run in one of my new hotrods. Hope to race against you soon in Class 5b or 3000.

Re: Class 5 only
Pete did what many did back in those days- Went to a class with a truck body( How good was that 7s truck you picked up from the guys in Hemet?) where there was factory money and factory involvement. Then moved up. If VW had the program then, like it had a few years ago, who knows what Pete would be doing today. Many folks went into trucks when all the factories came into the game, folks who had raced buggies for many years. One of the best 5 car drivers ever went to a 7s, first Toyota then Ford. It was easier to get money into your program with a truck than something else. It isn't the motor that is keeping 5 car numbers down, and the proof is in a class that doesn't have type 4 motors, Class 5-1600. Numbers in that class are dismal also, and it is because of the economy, not because of motor costs. The folks in the middle class are hurting, so classes they race in are hurting. Folks who can afford to spend 300k on a fishing boat don't have an issue spending 100k on a race car, but those are hardly middle class folks.
