The class isn't unlimited. It has limitations on motor, wheelbase, and suspension. Therefor it is not unlimited. It is "open" as far as limitations go though. I know I'm being moot here but let's keep it correct.

I disagree. 5/16 is hurting because they are a heavy, stubby car with a very high center Of gravity. Anyone in there right mind would be racing a 1600 car for the same money and going way faster. 1600 isn't hurting.

I don't know about other 5U's, but 524 does not have a high center of gravity. We pulled the car off the trailer at Outlet Center, Barstow and accidentally sheared off a brake line. Instead of cancelling the day we pinched off the line and went for a test run. You know how you come down the start finish side that parallels the 15 and then you turn right to head to the wash? That right hand hook right after start/finish has a berm sometimes. Well, Eric forgot the one wheel had no brake line and came in hot to that berm. He stabbed the brakes and it hooked hard and shot off that berm to the left and flew! The thing is...it flew flat, and landed flat...sideways. And if you had ever ridden/driven it you would get the same planted, without sway feeling. It feels like it's settled through the rough and it freakin' RAILS the corners. There are a lot of other cars that seem to me to be built similar to 524 and I can't imagine them having a radically higher center of gravity or wanting to roll.

Or, you can spend less and race a 1600 and be faster than the 5Us. It isn't the motor, it's the wheelbase. Heck, the 1600s regularly beat 10, 12, and 5, and they aren't crying for a sealed ecotech.

What flippin world do you live in ? NOBODY wanted sealed engines !! 1) and if I've got this right you don't want any engine option at all , 2) you don't own a 5 car 3) a 1600 and a 3 ltr type four are worlds apart .

Really without being a complete arse , Its going to happen either way 5 or 5b , its gunna happen . Although you seem to know so much , it is the engine to the tune of a couple grand a race . may be a little less for the guy with the smaller type fours , but still a big dollar time bomb. But I'm sure you know that too

But pete, isnt that what we have in class 5unlimited now? Only thing that wont swap across is the beam bushings. And actually, they do too. Or should we NOW say the only thing a class 10 is, is a 5unlimited with a-arms. Hell, if you throw in Andersons car we can debate that too!! U ready for v2r?

Ah, it's nic to see so many taking this personal because not everyone agrees with them about trying to CHANGE rules in a cl;ass instead of building to the rules. Even you Jim. The reply was for the guy who asked which class he would run given the rules changed proposed and spending dollars for speed. Way to make it personal and try and get feisty. And again, the original proposal was for sealed ecotechs, but once the folks that wanted realized they would still get their butts handed to them by the big type 4s, they changed it to open watercooled 4s with 2500cc limits and a (cough cough) 7500 RPM limit. You guys enjoy your new class.
