No Chili Cook off for us now...decided to rebuild our front end. Toys-4-Tots will likely be are next race after bunch of testing
Really sad to hear you wont be making it. First Antuna even though he's racing the 5/16 and then you. Why not rebuild after this race? Is it going to break off? and what exactly do you mean by rebuilding? This is a pretty big race to miss just to race in december. If that race is anything like most races there will be maybe 2 other cars. I've seen your car run and its super solid. Jim and I are in the process of a down to bare frame prep on the Blue Monster and holy crap is it taking for ever. It should be as pretty as new when we're done but its taking a very long time. If we can rebuild his whole car in time you can get the front end done right? Here's where we're currently at.
Hey here's one of these crumco new class 5 b with one of those subaru engines in it. Be nice don't tear it apart. Oh wait the engine still works in this. Wheezy love your post. Hey we're making a banner for the chili cookoff and was wondering how many people were going to show up in this pit. If there's only going to be a few - we're going to pass on the banner. Could you guys let us know please. Looking forward to seeing you guys out there. Let us know.
Was just flipping through a few other threads and still trying to figure out how to boost class 5 entry #'s consistently. This 'new' option might work short term, but limiting the engine size and rpms will still be pricey compared to some of the more attractive classes.
Here is a quote from the 6100 thread by Brian at Fusion regarding the new spec V8(6100) vs 7200:
"7200 is headed on the path of old class 10 with expensive motor packages. This will hurt 7200 but it is needed for the future growth in desert racing. I think unlimited powerplant will be class 1 and TT as it should be.this class will thrive and sponsors will support it. also the biggest wallet won't dominate like RPM at the moment. those guys will price themselves right out of competition. I thank Casey for looking into the future for us. flame away."
Keep in mind they have more than one engine MFG. Putting your own agenda aside, I suggest that whether it be class 5, class 5B that we think bigger picture (beyond 2 years) and create a better mouse trap that is attractive to both old and new class 5 teams.
Rus, we have. Really. There are so many affordable, competitive options in the proposed rules but it has to be fair.
I don't think anything else is needed. You can buy an Eco that will run all season and put out over 200hp EASY for a grand or so.
OR you can build a subie at 250hp for several grand (price of a nice T1)
And race a season OR two on it with oil changes.
Or, go with good ol FORD that will run a few seasons for $8k.
These are amazing and attractive options. But it's still a 105" wheelbase BEAM car. And most people say "ARE YOU F'N NUTS? 250HP IN A 105" WHEELBASE CAR???"
Anyhow. We've been over this 100 times. Put in countless hours of research and that's how we came up with. It now needs to be implemented and see if it works out on the race course.
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't.
