Very limited space here, as the frame is tight have to mount the engine mounts after lowering the engine in the car,, made some cardboard mockups. What plate thicknes would you recomend,,??
I will be using kartekīs bushing 2"x3",,
I wanīt a rigid mount that donīt flex, will the standard urethane bushings work or is delrin the way to go,,??
Heard that delrin sometimes crack/shear, and are not good for twisting forces like engine mounts,,
I only have like 3/8" of clearance from oilpan to chassie,, need a solid mount that isnīt too solid that it could snap something off,,
Input please,,!!!!
Linus,,
Parts arrived,, Time to get to work,,
KARTEK rocks,,!!!!
Oh picture shows laser cut parts also from my metal supplier REPAY,, i measure and make cardboard templates, they laser cut it for me. SWEET !!!!
I think I'd go with the urethane, just for a little give.
But what are you going to do when you land on a rock and that 3/8" positive clearance becomes 3/4" negative clearance?
Better make a thick skidplate...
Hey! You kids!! Get OFF my driveway!!! If you can't go away happy, just go away!
Urethane already in my garage,,
I remember your other project, the Subaru BRAT that was pretty dam cool.
This though... isnt in the same class, this is INSANE!! i was thinking of something close to this, only putting the engine in the rear, then reality stepped in.
PS can you post your design sketch from your website? I linked to your site in an article i did and really wanted to use it but it wasn't available to be downloaded
All it takes is vision, money, motivation and insanity. This is a crazy ass vision, your motivation is undeniable and money is spent. Keep up the hard work. Inspiring. Good luck.
