We would drive right by that thing in the old days of class 11 when they were really stock Vws, I raced and won the WRA 300 in class 11, that truck started about 10 vehicles in front of us, I do not think the wheels went up and down on it, I think it just bounce off the tires LOL It really looked out of place racing with the jeeps and broncos

After a few hard nights of work (Spencer) is ready to go to Precision Powdercoating in Santa Ana to be sandblasted, then we are going to start on the sheet metal repair. With the help from Jeff at Deaver Springs in Santa Ana, we should be starting on all new leaf springs and suspension soon. Big thanks to Nathan and Robert at Precision Powdercoating, Jeff and the gang at Deaver Springs and Aaron, Ben, Joey and Dan for helping with the tear down.

Man I can't believe you are resurrecting that truck.
I dreamed of that thing when I was a teenager also.

I did buy a 79 Dodge D50 converted 4x4 that Spencer did a bunch of work on back in 1980.
    Brings back tons of memories.
Can't wait to see it when its done.
Piece of history for me fo sho.

The Mexican 1000 is in my future.
Trying to get debt free then its on.
Probably an old Toyota or Ranger when I am ready.

David just finished the mockup for the new leafs. We went from 4.5" in front to 11" and in the rear from 5.5 to 14" the truck has been so much fun to work on with a few buddies and my son. I will try to get a few photos up soon. Ps thanks to Baja Mike @Kartek for the help on the FOX shox set up and all of the trips over from Jeff @ Dever spring to get this project finished.

Great find! It isn't my truck obviously, but if it was I would be inclined to keep the paint just how it is.

    I didn't know you drove a 7s 4wd!!!!!

Congratulations on a buying not only a historic truck, but a cool one at that. The best of the mini truck conversions. Today's leaf springs and shocks are miles ahead of when that truck last raced and with the route selection that NORRA uses in Baja, that truck will be a blast. A small plug to my sponsor, Jesse at HighAngle Driveline, for making a fine-spline, long travel front driveshaft. In my Blazer, there is almost 4.5" of plunge, or spline travel, for 11" of front wheel travel.
