If you are trying to race on a tight budget, one of these $100,000 cars is probably not for you. There are some decent used super buggies in the midwest for under $10,000 though - FAT engine, Mendeola trans, etc.

there are many many guys that will build you a car and not break the bank -- some are back in the mid west like Todd Attag- he builds a beam 5 link car that handles un real and Jeff and Kevin probst and Dan Baudoux all build great cars -- and the funco is probably the best car on the track right now--- as far as the bullet style cars go.
Don’t forget most of the guys out west have only been doing this for 6-7 years! The guys I just mentioned over 25 years experience – and guys at funco started this 50 years ago. You add it up
MY.02 -- is the A arm cars are not what their cracked up to be for short course - the funco has A arms but completely different from the rest of the cars. I think it’s funny that the a arm guys are running 1 ½ - 2 in sway bars to get the car to do what a beam car does naturally. Silly If you ask me?
I guess if you’re smart you would watch all the cars on the track and see how they turn. Remember 3-4 lefts and one right or 5-2 but you get my point,----- so my thinking a car with the weight on the left is a no brainer. IMO
I took the equation and put it in a box, a few jumps smooth dirt track one rhythm section and lefts ,some kind of down force is needed to get the car back to the ground too. This flying thing is not the fast way around the track. And thats about to be proven by me.
What would you build? Certainly not a car that only does one thing good like all the current cars ?
Why not just go by a good used car stick a Ecotec in it and get some experience? For the most part in this sport its 45% car and 55% driver or 40-60 IMO so spending a truck load on a new car is kinda silly if you ask me. And change is coming.

And some good news for all the Chevy guys(this is not set in stone till next week) I talked to Jason @TORC and it looks like the Chevy Ecotec will be ok to run in Torc for the rest of this year and forever and ever.
so any of you mid west guys that need some help I am more than willing to tell you what I have learned-- or just call Adam Wick he can set you up with all the good stuff-------

Or you could just build your own one-off buggy and go have fun with it.

Love the flying belly pan wings- ----just a observation----- have any of you tried to hold on to a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back of a pickup truck doing 60mph lately? It’s going to be hard to beat a guy while you’re flying through the air and he is already on the ground on the gas. I’m sure it just my crazy thinking but does make a person go hmmmmm?
