SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

First and Foremost, SNORE is extremely proud of it's racers and is always working towards the best interest of it's racers, and the sport as a whole. The consideration for a Class 9 Transmission Rule change took a lot into consideration, and a decision was made after weighing them.

The SNORE Board of Directors has decided to not support a rule change at this time due to the imminent conflict it would create between race organizers. SNORE does not wish to allow the possibility of any Class 9 racer(or racer in general) being alienated in a divide that such a rule change would create.

SNORE recognizes your ongoing support and appreciates all the racer input and encourages voicing your concerns and opinions.

    -Daniel Maurer

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

Unfortunate as I know a lot of people want this. I was hoping that SNORE would have set the trend and the rest would follow. I guess the best way is to get SCORE to set the rule and I have no dance card with them.

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

Sorry you have to be the bearer of bad news.
The racers voted in favor of the change, if the BoD really cared they would listen to what the car owners want. It is the car owners choice if they want to risk being alienated, they don't need the BoD to hold thier hands.
Did they even consider that if they made the change that SNORE could possibly be the most popular series to race a 9 car?
One of the orgs need to do this to get things to change. I'll bet money that HDRA will be the org that actually listens to the people that PAY THEM to be a "member" and the race entry fee.

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

I just lost a lot of respect for the SNORE BODs. Why even have a vote if you are going to shoot a change down anyways? How many 9car racers or owners are on the BOD? I am very disappointed by this decision. SNORE hasn't had a problem in the past making changes to other classes, in hopes other promoters would make the same changes..... Class 12 engine rule! If u are goonna wait for someone who created the class to say, let's make this change, it will never happen. My car will be for sale soon. With 2 new delicate class 9 legal trannies!!!

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

Although I'm not personally proud of the final decision, I can appreciate the process we all went through on the Board to get there. What it boils down to, it takes M.O.R.E. to be on board for a class 9 rule change. They are respectfully the class 9 power house, and we wish to respect their wishes to not change.

The relationship between SNORE and almost all of the race organizers are good ones, and it is something we intend to protect FOR the benefit of the racers. For example, the Class 12 engine option was developed because of a good working relationship with the other org.s. Unfortunately, it doesn't work in favor of our own SNORE Class 9 racers, on this issue, this time.

SNORE knows and recognizes the majority's stance on this issue and does not consider it dead. Hopefully in due time the cards will lay as they should to make it happen. As your rep., I won't give up on the issue. I'll be exploring other options, until I either hit a defined dead end, or the majority votes another direction.

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

I am not suprised and actually relieved that SNORE made the correct decsion this round.

I suggest again that someone make contact with a reputable trans builder, cost out an open tranny build and rebuild then cost out the same current rule new build and rebuild. Review that and forecast the cost changes over a season. Put that out there for all to review. Then ask the ORGS to mail out a survey to driver of records of cars that races in the last two years and get that info out there. Only then will you be able to go to the SNORE-MORE and SCORE group to pettion for change.

The sugeestion above requires time and energy I just dont have right now, but if started now maybe you can get a change for 2013 new year.

Until the real facts and costs are out there we always will have this debate.

I am for the change if it costs out and helps us race more often and or reduce over all costs.

Keep in mind a series runner has a whole different costs then the racer who is out there only a few times a year.

Re: SNORE's Class 9 Transmission Rule Decision

First of all I respect and appreciate your efforts, Daniel. You have been an excellent class rep.

When this discussion took place on MORE's forum, nobody ever asked what the racers from SNORE, HDRA, CODE, etc. etc. wanted. There were several MORE racers repesented at that vote in February along with a class 9 champion from Mexico who voted for this change. Bottom line is this, if SNORE is going to wait for MORE to adopt this rule change, its never going to happen. It doesn't matter what information you show Dave it will not have an affect on Jim's opinion that this rule change will hurt his "real racers" of which he says he builds 90% of their trannies. It's just so unbelievably odd to me that less than 10 guys who oppose this change can stop a rule change that a strong majority of this class is in favor of.

I also disagree that MORE has a stronghold on class 9 entries. On an average SNORE and MORE draw about the same # of class 9 entries annually. Yes, MORE's are spread out and SNORE's are concentrated in their short course races.

Jim will continue to misquote prices, censor discussions on this issue, and try to influence the out come of any vote to keep this ruleyy from changing. As far as I'm concerned this issue is now dead, I will waste no more of my time or energy trying trying to change this.

I don't break trannies, I have raced 3 races on my Speed Unlimited of Clovis box now and plan to race more on it if my car doesn't sell soon. This proposed rule change imo was for the young guys and future racers of this class. Not for people Luke me who have learned to drive around the weakness of the trans.

I just wish SNORE would have sacked up and said we will do what the racers want instead of leaving it up to a guy who says he doesnt care what anyone else does he will not change this rule unless his "regulars" want this change.
If you can't afford it, make it!!!
