so which Reno 500 you gonna run?
Well looks like there's a choice to be made
VORRA 500 or the HDRA race.
I went to the VORRA race last year and it was an absolutely epic race on great
terrain with a great group of people.
The fact that the HDRA race is on some new terrain is also appealing, but if they plan to groom the track like a ski run again, well thats just not desert racing.
I love that HDRA is bringing new events up here and media exposure to the racers, but at what cost?
VORRA has been around scraping by since the 70s, and the organizers are fellow racers.
Just seems like bad form since this isn't the only piggybacked event in this years HDRA schedule
The VORRA 500 was scheduled over a year in advance, couldn't this have been avoided?
Most small time race programs just cant pull off 2 500 mile races back to back with 2 weeks between.
I would love to run both, but thats just not realistic.
We will definitely be at the VORRA race to debut the El Camino.
Even if it isn't going to get us on TV I can guarantee it will be a real racers race.
I didnt start this to stir the pot unnecessarily, I would just like to hear others thoughts and reasons for choosing one or the other.

Re: so which Reno 500 you gonna run?
Yup Roger Norman is definatly not a offroad racer. He is just a suit and tie trying to make his millions planning these events.
And you could probably race 2 races every weekend of the year if you had the budget so its really hard to plan around other races. some races just overlap.

Hey Game Over 2... If winning the Baja 1000 and Mint 400 as well as many other races doesn't make Roger Norman an off-road racer, I'd like to hear your definition of exactly what does make one! For your information, everyone in the HDRA organization has a long background in motor racing. Just a small group with a combined total of over 240 years of racing experience...
If you would like to find out more about the Fireworks 500, go to www.hdrarace.com for details.

Re: so which Reno 500 you gonna run?
I have no dog in this fight but, Roger Norman is a true racer and to call him a "suit" deserves an apology and "to make millions" I am sure he has other investments that would show a quicker & better returns than HDRA.
Off Road Racing & Sex have a lot in common....it's only good if you finish

Dang... bad form RDC... cant even see clear as day sarcasm anymore. I think theyre fiending drama.
I like what HDRA is doing i really do. but i dont like the way they seem to be piggy backing VERY similar events on very close race dates... other then that roger and crew have been killing it.
