V2R for Newbies
Info about how the race normally pans out and how the teams normally handle the logistics would much appreciated and helpful to me.
Is the start always in Beatty and the finish in Dayton?
Do most teams head to Beatty right after Thursday tech?
Is Tonopah NV usually the midway general area?
Thanks and all info / advice is welcome!

Re: V2R for Newbies
Yes it seems to start in Beatty lately, & finish in Dayton every time I recall. A few teams do go to Beatty after tech, but there's many rooms. Tonopah is about half way.. It's a long day. Prepare accordingly.. It gets cold @ night close to the finish in the higher elevations. Should be able to chase with 2 trucks.

What time do they start the limited classes usually? I am sure we will be just ahead of the sportsman entries..

Re: V2R for Newbies
Last year we stayed in N Las Vegas near the host hotel (couldn't beat the Fiesta at $16/night) and left just before daybreak, we made it with plenty of time. We were in 7200. I think the cars usually start at 10am with 1 min intervals thru the faster classes then :30 after that. So when they say it's "vegas to reno" you're perfectly ok to start your day in Vegas and finish that night with a motel in Reno. We have one year, however, had to get a room in Fallon after rescuing the car out of the dez until 4am.
Tonopah + or - is usually the half way point. We did our mid race drivers change at Redlich-2 pits past Tonopah.
1 chase truck is all we use until Hawthorne then 2 or three are needed. That's usually when you can hook up with another team or pit crew that is heading to a remote pit.

How does BITD handle race car retrieval and chase to breakdown support for this race?
Thanks to all for the info too!

Re: V2R for Newbies
There are not many rooms in Beaty, if you want to stay there call now. It is normally pretty hot for most of the race, I have seen many reports of fuel system problems in the past with EFI vehicles, fuel boiling, vapor lock etc.
Vehicle retrieval is typically handled by BITD personnel, they have lots of volunteers out there and they are the only ones allowed on the course. Your chase team is not allowed on the course so everything is coordinated through BITD ops.
good luck!

Same as all BITD events - BITD staff will retieve during the race if safe to get people out, bring them to nearest access point / pit. If the last cars go buy, teams will be allowed to retrieve. BITD staffs this with people every couple miles along the entire route -

Also, if Beatty is sold out, Armagosa is the next best choice to stay. And like everyone else said, the pit just outside of Tonopah (usually called Miller's) is about the half-way mark, (not the one going into Tonopah), which is where yours truly will be
I go to my pit right after tech and camp out on there until Saturday, as it's usually late by the time we close.

Re: V2R for Newbies
We ran it last year and chased it with two trucks. Being in the limited class we just stayed in Vegas until race morning then make the trip out to Beatty. We started around 1030 or so depending on how many unlimiteds there are. We had a flawless day and finished at around 1am. Its going to be warm during the day and cold at night climbing into Dayton. If this is your first time running this race you will love it. Its one of my favorites and my crew loves it too. Hope this helps.
