Hi everyone. I will send this to everyone so you get the follow up from our attendance at Sacramento Senate subcommittee hearing on Budget. 5 of us from Southern California went to this hearing and I have to tell you I now know why our state of California is in trouble. We have senators who have been around way to long and should not be elected to another office because it is the likes of Senator Simitian from Palo Alto and Senator Lowenthal from Long Beach who voted gut our grants program. All they know is to steal from our gas tax, that is set aside by a complicated formula that cost us 2 millions dollars to develop , or Use of vehicles off the pavement . it is "OHV Gas Tax "


It is this type of leadership in Sacramento from selected legislators that has gotten us into trouble at the state capitol. All they know to do is spend and steal. They have no shame, no morals, and most troubling of all no conscious for the damage they are doing to California. California Voters should throw everyone of them out of office or best never elect them again in any capacity.

These two senators voted to take 11 million from Gas tax and stated it comes from Grants and Cooperative Agreement. They catered to the Sheriff by leaving 10 million in account for them. Senator Jean Fuller waged a brave war, but the other two just did not care. Senator Fuller stated," you both are going to be gone and leave me here with this mess", They did not care

Last year Theft of 10 million never got to the California State parks, stated Ruth Colman, Director of State parks. That theft if for eternity until it is repealed, something we need to get the legislators to do. . Wednesday theft of 11 million is for 3 years .

So folks these 2 senators killed 10 month of work on SC 742 , our re authorization Bill authored by Democrat Senator Steinberg, (which these guys voted on) and chopped the very essence of the bill that deals with Grants and cooperative agreement program, the life line for all our funding for BLM, Forest, City and County and Non profit is gone .

So folks this is what we have to do now. It goes to the Assembly Sub-committee on Budget and we need to contact all our assemblyman and tell them you want the "Gas tax not stolen, that is dedicated by law for only " OHV gas tax " that is used for vehicles off the pavement for all types of recreation is counted, just as highway fund gets gas tax on highways, boating fund gets boat gas tax and airports get airplane gas tax. These legislators don't get it.

So when you write your letters, or call your legislative aid and legislators, remember it is "OHV gas tax" they are stealing and that is illegal. On top of that a "Trust Fund " was set up so that we would not have this type of thievery take place, but again those bad legislators who are running California into debt , do not get it or care if California goes down in flames, they don't care that thousands of jobs will be lost with this gutting of our Grants and Cooperative agreement. They have no shame.


We need to focus on the Assembly Budget Committee:

Please go to the link below and put in your address , that will tell you who your elected official is, and print it or copy it for future reference. Call District office, and Sacramento office,Build a relationship with your legislator and their aids. Please remember, we can not let them "wipe" out our grants program, or our OHV program, this stealing of our "OHV Gas Tax" has to stop.


Please do this now, our program depends on this,our jobs depend on this, and most important our recreation no matter how you recreate depends on this. Unless we have "Access to our public lands" our lives will never be the same again. All Access is managed by agencies that receive grants to keep our roads and trails open. Never forget that. "Please stay on Designated trails" If we could get legislators to run the state how the OHV program is run, there would be none of this and California would be a thriving state again, not at the bottom of the pile as it is now.

Please , it is in your hands. These elected officials need to hear from the masses, they now feel immune to public pressure.

Kim if you could condense this into a short version or into two threads, one of which is political, (getting rid of the two senators). The other on the importance of contacting representatives to keep our orv gas tax from being stolen. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the fight!!
