Re: Raptor vs. Ram Runner Part #1

I have the 6.2. I get about 15 cruising at about 73 mph highway
    Around town is 11.3

I average all together 12.8 ugh

I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma 4 door that I drive 90% of the time. San Clemente is a small town with narrow streets and that big ol Raptor is a pain around town, plus I LOVE MY TACO just as much as my Raptor

My raptor is a year old and it has 11,885 miles on it. I bet 11,400 of those miles are from off roading and going to races or on Baja fun trips. It's pretty much just for the desert.

I sold my Alumi-Craft. 4 seater to buy the Raptor so I use it as my toy and not my daily driver, plus I can't afford a $ 50,000 truck every 5 years. I'm hoping to make her last a while, we'll see.

Sheeze the first house I bought back in 86 was only 58,000.

Maybe my next truck will be one of those Friday specials Jerry was talking about with Camburg parts added as I can afford it, who knows?

Jerry, each time you punctuate a statement with a smiley face I barf in my mouth.

We all know that your internet tone is harmless, non-confrontational and benign, so the smiley faces are redundant.

Men should avoid smiley faces unless they also like Hello Kitty and/or publicly tonguing huge lolly pops with a far-away look in their eyes...

Kent some times I need to cover my ass with a smiley face (that sounded wierd.. see I did it without a smiley face because the thought of you swallowing your own barf is just wrong makes me think of you and your friends swallowing something else playing Gay Chicken) so the smiley face is because some people get all ruffled up over nothing.

Now I am a Hello Kitty fan. Why? Well not out of choice but because of my 8 year old daughter. When you have kids and if you have a daughter you will understand. As for Publicly tonguing huge lolly pops you have me beat!

The stock leaf pack is 3 big ol thick leaves. The Deaver pack is 11 separate leaves that work progressively and you throw out the lift block which causes axle wrap (bunny hopping) on hard acceleration in the dirt.

Rumor is that Ford wanted Deaver to be the supplier for the leaf springs on the Raptor but turning out a million leaf packs every year was not in the works for Deaver. I don't know how true that is though.

they are not the same leafs, i compared them when we got our raptor. The main leaf may look the same, but the rest of the leaf springs are different lenghts creating much different spring rates more or less as they saw fit.

stiffer rear springs like a deaver 11pk is not end all be all for the raptor. and the deaver rumor sounds like the most made up thing ive heard in regards to raptor rumors!
When a man knows how to live dangerously, he is not afraid to die. When he is not afraid to die, he is, strangely, free to live.

With that mentality though, I guess we could also make 2 TT classes for those guys that just can't keep up with the faster TTs. Oh wait.... This is racing. - Dan Vance

The winner of their 2012 Duel in the Desert goes to the Mopar-built Ram Runner. In this bout, aftermarket beats factory. A complete analysis of the competition can be seen here:

Re: Raptor vs. Ram Runner Part #1

The Deavers are progressive. That means that they actually start out softer than stock but the farther into the 11 leafs you push the stiffer it becomes. This is how BMW and Porsche get great handling cars that haul butt on a track and are still comfy for cruising in home from the track.

The thing about the Deaver deal was told to me by some big wigs at Fox who might have known what they are talking about since they have been instrumental in the design of the existing Raptor and are now up to their elbows in the design of the New Raptor. Possibly look for National Spring to be the supplier of leafs for the new Raptor. Possibly.

Everyone is free to believe whatever they want, I have had both stock Ford leafs and now the Deavers and I know for sure which ones I like.

Ps. Dang Jerry not the whole frame just the shock mounts are off the F-350. Gosh go make yourself a dang quesadilla!
