Re: Update on Matt Gerald
I just wanted to let everyone know, that we are still selling Matt Geralds team shirts for this year. In light of the crash at RedBud and Matts championship spirit to make a full recovery, we decided to turn 100% of the shirt profits back to Matt and his family. The heart and sole of the NitroCult revolves around the Friends and Family that share our passion in motorsports. The Gerald family exemplifies that type of passion and dedication. We appreciate them letting us be a part of their team this year. Anyone who would like to support Matt and the Gerald Racing Teams #195 and #395 Buggys this year can checkout www.nitrocult.com under the apparel section. The shirts ship free, and all profits go to the Gerald family.

Great Job Matt:

Had such an awesome weekend. Had Allison and some family come down. Also got to see my buddy Erik and his fam. Today was a big day for me. I had a timed test to see how far I could walk in 6 min. I was able to walk 321 feet, her goal was 250' Also had a stairs test was able to walk up and down 10 stairs with out any problems. So far I've been able to crush my therapist's goals and I'm a head of schedule. Every day I keep working harder to get back to home!

Today's update from Matt's facebook page:
Matt Gerald
Got to go outside my first time and walk around in public with a walker. We walked to a dinky farmers market which was pretty cool. I didn't buy anything but it was an experience walking around with other people. I need to get my endurance, leg strength up and my core muscles back. Also want to thank everyone for all the support over the weekend at Antigo! We where blown away from all the support from the racers and families, the Traxxas team, Andy Zipperer, MORR and everyone else who helped thank you! we appreciate it more then you even know! This experience has been tougher then any thing I've ever faced in my life. I'm working my ass off to get back to my old self and make a full recovery. I can't wait to see my racing family in a couple weeks! I get out of RIC on July 30th. I'll be able to go out on a day pass for Joliet and I'll be at Bark River the whole weekend.

I had the pleasure of seeing Matt at the Chicago TORC race. He was in great spirits and is doing well. He still has a long ways to go. As of right now he gets to go home Aug 3rd. Here is an interview with Matt from Chicago. If you would like to help Matt in any way you can pm me or get a hold of Matt through his Facebook page.

Re: Update on Matt Gerald
Here is a post from Matt this from his fb this past Friday:
This was a tough week of physical therapy glad it's over. I've been pushing really hard. The results are coming though! Lots of leg and balance work this week. It's really helped my walking. Yesterday I went on a 2.5 mile bike ride with the new Catrike bike. It was so much fun. Really works my core muscles and legs. Can't wait to get my own for training when i go home. Looks like I'm going to be getting out of RIC on Thursday the 2nd and I'll be starting my out patient therapy in Neenah. I'm going to really have to dedicate a lot of my time to working out and getting stronger then I was before the accident. Most important i'm looking forward to being home with Allison, Levi and Rocko. It's going to be good seeing all my friends and family again. Thanks everyone for all the support. Can't wait to be home and have a beer with some of my friends.

From Facebook:

Checking out of RIC rehabilitation shortly! I really enjoyed my stay here and made some good friends. So lucky to have worked with the best therapists and nurses anyone could ask for. When I first got here I had minimal control over my legs and erratic motor control. Today I'm proud to say I'm walking out of here way stronger, healthier and as a better person. It's been a long road and the hardest thing I've ever done. Still have a long ways to get back to where I was but I'm not going to settle for anything less. All the trophies, world championships and races I've won in my racing career, do not compare to how proud i am to walk out of here. I'm so blessed to have all my family and friends that have stood behind me with all the nice emails, texts, and fb messages. You don't know how much it means to me when i would check my phone between therapy sessions to see everyone pulling for me. Can't thank everyone enough. I'm excited to get back home with allison, Levi and rocko. Hoping to spend time with everyone on saturday! Thanks!
