FAST-AID for Lobsam Yee.
I want to be the first to contribute to FAST AID on behalf of Lobsam Yee.
Lobsam has a rough "Course" ahead of him and I am sure he will need some "Chase Support" from all of us in the Desert Racing Familia. He can finish this race on top and I want to say that I was part of the support team that gets him and his family to the Checkered Flag a winner.
I'd like to pledge $500 to FAST-AID to kick this off and hope others will jump in with their support.

Re: FAST-AID for Lobsam Yee.
Does fast aid take a percentage? Do they offer a program where given donations go straight to the person being donated to? Is it visible to the public? Who has been helped by Fast Aid?
To be candid, my experience with them when I broke my back with no health insurance was not a positive one.
I'm all for helping Lobsam and will donate my time to create a small website for the cause and I'm also in for $100. THe only system I know of is pay it forward, they take 7% which is a lot, but it's all visible to the public. It's also my understanding that any donations for a specific person are taxable, unfortunately.
Will to talk to anybody about this. Send your number and I'll call today and can put in several hours of my time each evening to really get this thing going.

Wheezy,
"I'm sorry you did not like our response to your assistance. Although don't remember the details of your case (we get a lot of applications) I believe yours was one of our first applications for assistance.
Please know we do our best to help everyone we get applications from.
I will review your application details when I get a moment.
Despite the fact it seems you kind of put FA on blast here we keep our applications confidential and we can't discuss the details of them publicly."
To answer your first question, NO, FA does not take any percentage. We are all volunteers and continue to volunteer our time and effort to the group. The rest of your questions can be answered by our President. I'm sure when he is off of work he will see this post and reply.

Way to go Rams, my youngest was with Hutchins Fri on their way to Baja and stopped by the hospital to see Lobsam. Have not heard from him yet but by Ma's comments he will get to the checkered flag. I have never heard anything but positive about Fast Aid and the volunteers WOW!!

Re: FAST-AID for Lobsam Yee.
I highly encourage everyone to donate to Fast Aid! Myself and my co-driver broke are backs this past September and Fast Aid was an integral part of helping us weather the financial storm. This is a class act organization that was founded to help the off road racing family in times of need. I salute them for all of their time and effort they put in to keep Fast Aid going. I got to go watch my first race since the accident this past weekend, what a blast. I also pledged $100 and asked the VORRA racers to jump in and donate. I hope others from other racing series also help Fast Aid with any donation you can afford.
@ Kim, thank you and everyone at Fast Aid for the help during such a bad time!

Re: FAST-AID for Lobsam Yee.
Glad to hear someone has been helped. Sincerely. I was beginning to think it was a giant scam.
I incurred over $250,000 in bills, was unable to work and received zero assistance of any kind. Not sure what happened there. I know my wife said that you had called, but nothing ever materialized. This dates back to Dec 5, 2009. I actually inquired again, within the past few months regarding HOW the system works and what it takes to get assistance. I never received a reply of any kind.
And again, I'm willing to donate a few hours of my time every night to create a website specific to Lobsam and am willing to donate my time going forward to help you improve your website and contact system so that people in need don't go unanswered.

I beleive your first inquiry to the group was within days of us announcing our formation. We had less than $300 in the bank at the time. Regarding your second conversation with us, that is confidential and I will not discuss it on an open forum. I think you know what I'm getting at.
Many people have been helped by our group. Confidentiality laws prohibit us from disclosing names and dates. If a recipeint wishes to discuss his or her interactions with us than that is up to them.

wheezy, I think you are specially qualified to use your experience and enthusiasm to encourage all of us to NEVER get in a race car without at least some health insurance. Everyone needs to think about the unintended consequences of the worst case scenario. Permanant disability coverage is out of the question for most but with basic health coverage, FA efforts will sure go alot further in helping folks.
Since i jumped into the conversation, I'm going to put 500.00 in the mail to FA today too! And prayers for Lobsam Yee and family.

That's Awesome!....It's up to $ 1550.00....Come on Racers, let's help out the people that help us. Give what you can $ 5, 10, 15, 20 what ever you can spare. It will help build the pot for the ones that need it and hopefully it will never be YOU!

Re: FAST-AID for Lobsam Yee.
What people need to remember is that Fast-Aid is a relativly new organization and are not required to help anyone. I am not affiliated with Fast-Aid, although my brother and very close friends are, but from my knowledge, regardless of the medical bills incurred by anyone, Fast-Aid has a cap that they can only pay so much. If the right paperwork is submitted to Fast-Aid, you may receive funding to the amount of the cap, but not everyone will, and you will never receive over the cap. Everyone is looked at as equals who go through the proper channels, but for anyone in a race related accident, please have alternative sources as backup. Fast-Aid's job is to help with expenses, but there is no way they can cover them all, and they aren't required to cover any.
