I'm the Fast Eddy with the Y . I'm from Kansas City and run 1-2/1600 car. Been back around since about 09. Retread in offroad racing. Did this as a kid from 77-83 in a Funco SS II class 9 then moved to class 1 back in the day. Next race will be the HDRA 500. Entry will go in this week car 1639.
Just what are the rules for a NORRA race car/truck anyway? I know of a couple of class 8 trucks that would be a blast to race.
Jeff, don't blow my head off (your avitar), but the rules are pretty open. There are a zillion classes and let everything in from early sedans, to rally cars, to modern pre-runners, to bikes, to UTVs, to vintage truck/buggies. Go to the NORRA website and you will see. From what I am told they certainly want safety, but they also want to promote fun. So bring it!!!! (and find me a cool 2 seat buggy to buy). Woot...woot!
If it has all the safety gear (cage, nets, cell, race seats attached properly, etc.) then norra WILL find a class to put it in or create a class. They try to group by relative performance and separate classes for vintage, modern, rally cars, bikes, quads, 3 wheelers, side-by-sides, army half tracks, whatever. They will fine tune the classes again next year taking customer feedback into consideration.
It's not about how much faster you can go, it's about how much longer you can go faster.
Andy DeVercelly's Class 5/1600 is still intact. I see it everytime I'm on the 94 in his backyard. Don't know if Andy III is gonna restore it or not. Call Major Performance.
