    Re: mechanical gauges or electrical?

We run the Autometer Elite gauges. They are electric and are just like the SPEC gauges you see in NASCAR. It is very hard for the Co-Dawg to miss an issue with these.

Those are some of the nicest around, but way expensive. I guess if you've got money to burn it's an awesome option.

We run the cheapy(er) Autometers and set them up so that optimum range is pointing vertical so it's easier to spot anything that gets out of range. Never had an issue, yet.

    Re: mechanical gauges or electrical?

They are really not that much more expensive. They are also a standard size so you can convert one gauge at a time. After being in the right seat with them and without them I say they are more than worth the investment. Mechanical gauges have a lot more needle bounce and are hard to read when you are pounding woops. The elites make it easy. If it turns red you have problems if not party on

They wire up the same? I like the one at a time idea. Having that turn red feature for oil temp would be a nice upgrade. $200 plus tax is steep though. I suppose in the grand scheme of race cars it's a worthy investment.

They are pretty much the same. The main difference is they use their sending unit so you will need to swap out your original for theirs. I lost an egt guage on the way to salt lake and swapped my isopro for an elite in the parking lot.

Car is being wired by TRH next month. Probably just go big (shocking right?) and get oil pressure and oil temp now. Looking at video just now made me want them really bad. SICK!

Keeping dash simple this time. Those are my only two gauges anyway.

Nick Tiedeman, if you can afford it is the way to go!!!

Pick up a copy of new dirt sports mag, 4 page spread on him. It's impressive work.

I'm redoing his site as this one is really weak but has a link to some photos. Heck of a nice guy too, and mobile!

We missed winning the 09 Mint 400 10 class because the codawgs never saw or perceived the alternator failure. The diff between standard gauges and the NASCAR variety is about $125 more per gauge. We run 6. $750 is about what it costs to enter a MORE race and fill up the fuel tanks.

I also attribute the car's high finishing % to these gauges to some degree.
