Re: mechanical gauges or electrical?
Those are really nice gauges and they would work very well in a street car or trail rig. I just wouldn't be able to read them in a race car at speed in the desert.

Re: mechanical gauges or electrical?
Well I've seen a lot of 2 1/8" quarter sweep gauges in race cars and these are way easier to read. Even though they pack 4 gauges in one 5" gauge, the individual gauges are quite large. You can also customize the gauge face any way you want, including making the numbers yellow or red to indicate danger zones. But the best thing with them is the idiot lights. They are very bright even in the day and will no doubt get your attention.

FWIW - we just had our first race in the new car and the AutoMeter Elite gauges are incredible. No need to "read" anything - they truly are idiot proof. Everything is GOOD, they are GREEN. Stuff gets hot or out of range high they turn RED. They get really hot or way too high and they start flashing bright RED. When you first fire up the car, and it's too cold the are bright BLUE. Fully programmable for all ranges.
They really are awesome. Well worth the money for sure.
