skipped to the end after it started getting high school.
Just like to throw in that when I chose class ten it was not a single motor option class. It was a limited class with multiple motor choices that met the limitations.
I hope that the powers that be can get us back to spec's that are more in line with the original: Limited Motors

The eco-tec is pretty close to the Toyota 4 age we ran and the Honda or VW's that many others ran in power.By the way you can still run those packages and do anything you want to them. Its just the eco-tec is $2500 new and the other options are more money. I would put Hutchins Honda built by Kroyer up against any stock sealed eco-tec any time any day. We still have many engine options , run a stock sealed eco or build the Honda , Toyota or VW that many engines builders sell and race. Class 10 in SNORE , MORE ,BITD and HDRA is going awesome. We just need the economy to turn around for the limited class or middle class racer. This is B-Dub and I approve this mssage, vote every congressman and Senator out.

Not arguing here ... just stating, you can get a 2.3 Honda with more HP for the same price. Bummer they aren't allowed.

Again, not arguing ... just food for thought.

I know of this one class 10. Used 60k mile Honda engine. $3500 purchase price (not including header, install, etc).

    No rebuild as of yet.
    Races raced:
    2011 Baja 500, 2011 Baja Challenge of Champions, 2011 Baja 1000, 2012 SCORE Laughlin (x2), 2012 San Felipe 250, 2012 Baja 500

Changing the oil and plugs ... compression & leak down perfect to run the 2012 Baja 1000.

Once again ... Not arguing. Just stating that there might be another affordable choice out there other than the EcoTech.

No doubt Brian, Honda is a way bad arse engine and probably better than the Eco. Its just now many very budgeted racers have gone the eco route and the change over would keep them out of racing or racing at a major disadvantage. The Motec ecu/wire harness is the big hit $ wise.

No need to run Motec ... there are less expensive options out there for ECU's ... some down to $400 using a stock harness. There are a lot more aftermarket parts available for the Honda than the EcoTech. I understand the wide base already for not wanting to change the rules ... but is it really fair to limit everyone's future? At some point ... some will want to be different I think. Also, at some point ... the EcoTech will be phased out. Then what?

Limiting the cubic inch instead of the engine make is a better option ... just my opinion.

    .
Then they will spec another (inexpensive robust) engine. If it were not for the Ecotec, I would not be building my second class 10.

Not saying EcoTech's are a bad choice at all ... I've agreed that they spurred the growth of class 10. But in reality, it should be opened up to all stock 2.2's and 2.4's in my opinion if it is going to become a sealed engine class IMO.

There are other affordable options out there. Give racers an option, that's what my opinion was & is.
