Re: Baja 500: 3 Class 10's in the TOP 20!
Well I have bought 3 and the 3rd one going in this weekend. But all 3 have been used engines for approx $600 each. There are warehouses full of new 2.4 crate longblocks for $2500 The 1st engine threw a rod and I assume it was because it was low on oil, dip stick tube leaked our fault. 2nd the main water line came apart in Laughlin due to loose hose clamp again our fault melted. These engines are fast torqueee lol and are not only inexpensive but everyones already spent 5- 10k in parts and fab that it takes to get setup. I say bring it dont sing it Bryan. All the orgs except SCORE are not going to change the rules or make a new class for you guys. Get your 10 car your building out there, should almost be done by now hunh. stick with the same class for awhile and race. Riding in other peoples trucks and cars is great but IMO it does not warrant you trying to change rules in a class you do not race or own a car in. I vote for leaving the rules alone for another season. Thats my vote on the poll. Hows the new car coming along Steve , see ya back at the dyno soon!

I wish you really knew what you were posting about before you recommended what I ride in, race or own ... just sayin. You know NOTHING about me, my racing history or what I own or what I'm building.
I'm not fighting the ecotech, never said it was bad for the class ... believe that what Steve's poll would turn up is exactly what you guys are looking for (a result of "current" class 10 owners with EcoTechs voting to make it an EcoTech only class).
Why can't you guys have a nice debate over the future of class 10 instead of making it a negative thing?
All I'm saying is that there are other options out there ... (i.e. the direct injection EcoTech that creates more HP!)
Geeze ...

It is not what "we guys" or looking for, or at least not me. You made the statement that you know a lot of guys that want to open class 10 up to any 2.4 stock motor, and I don't believe that is the case.
I for one would like to race with a robust car, good HP to weight ratio, cheep motor, and motor rules that don't make me chase the latest and greatest motor manufacturer for 20, 30,or40 HP to be competitive. I think this is what the majority of the guys that are newly into, or back into class 10 are also looking for.
On another note I hope that the direct injection Ecotec is allowed because that is what I got for my car.
And the more I think about it, the more Busby may be right. Ecotec only class may be the direction all of this is going, and it may just make sense. The reasons are as follows:But don't hold me to this!!!!
Standardized motor equals lower cost, mas produced and race proven power steering pump brackets, full flow oil adapters, water block offs, ECM's, wire looms, adapter plates, exhaust systems, drive by wire, ETC.
DI is here... pull off all these high money ticket items and you are on your way cheep.
Soon the 2.5 ecotec is out.....pull off all the bolt on items and you are on your way cheep again.
We keep class 10 from high dollar motor chasing, and I believe you will keep the majority of the people in class 10 for the thrill of competition.

SCORE originally did that years ago ... they called it class 4. Class 10 chassis, EcoTech engines ... that's what it was created for, to grow the field having a affordable option while still allowing 10 to be a stepping stone before class 1.
(not trying to fight, just stating the way it happened before all of this up here stateside)
But EcoTech has helped class 10, I've never said any different. All I'm saying is that I think having only one option isn't the best idea (my opinion) ... if you want a spec class, why not adapt what SCORE did and go class 4? Leave 10 as the graduating class if someone does want to step up ... as is stands, there isn't anything someone can do between 10 & 1 with BITD/SNORE/MORE.
Food for thought.

Busby, why would you think there would be something between 10 & 1, 3 class 10's finished in the top 20 at the 500! Call it what you want, Class 4, new class 10, it looks like the ecotec classes are where a lot of guys want to race.

Re: Baja 500: 3 Class 10's in the TOP 20!
One would think ,unless one has somethng to gain that 4 promoters have the same rules and 1 has different rules that only a couple racers vs 60 want GEEZ. Wow with the eco-tec no fuel except pump gas 91 octane is needed. Open the class up to any 2.4 and WALLAH everyone in class 10 is buying race fuel again. HUMMMM.On the other statement Busby you told us all on here you were building a new class 10 and braggin about it to P-Diddy. As far as you racing we all watched you in 1600 and then working deals with McCrae and Locations etc. to ride navigator but who cares its no secret and we really dont care. But unless your going to bring it and quitt singing it and race with us class 10 guys with the rules we all like stop. Race SCORE or race class 1 we dont need you or your input for class 10. Its not that I dont like you as a matter of fact I have bought plenty of fuel from Amber. Race class 10 and then state your opinion or PLEASE be quiet.

Re: Baja 500: 3 Class 10's in the TOP 20!
Ok ... I guess it's not ok to have an opinion if it differs with yours. I feel badly that you think I'm all anti EcoTech, I'm not. And as far as your "race gas" therory ... you're wrong again, I have no hidden adgenda here. Just don't think I would use pump gas due to it being so inconsistant.
Steve, I find it funny that when I speak to others (John Langly, Chris Hall, Jamie Campbell, etc) that all of them were ok with any 2.4 coming in, as long as they were stock. I understand the want for a level playing field ... but in reality, driving skills has much more to do with who wins, not the 40hp ... the Hall's were right there with Matt & Mike all the way thru the 1000 tossing it up, EcoTech vs Honda (EcoTech won). LaPaglia walked away from the Honda at Laughlin, EcoTech vs Honda (EcoTech won). So the therory that the Honda will dominate is not true.
As far as classes, there shouldn't be a step between 10 & 1. That was my point. Where can a guy go if he wants to step up from 10 without having to spend the big money for a class 1 car? That's why SCORE built class 4 so that there was a place to be affordable, a place between and then the bigger class.
I don't understand the issue. But According to B-Dub, I'm not allowed to have an opinion I guess.
Both of you have a nice day.

Re: Baja 500: 3 Class 10's in the TOP 20!
Well you admitted its 40 hp and awesome we are done with this issue finally Thankyou. After this season for all the orgs. I would like to have a meeting again with class 10 owners/drivers and see if we cant comeup with a schedule where we could have the majority of class 10 race and make the prize and possible bonus money decent. We do not have to have a pro-10 if no one wants to thats fine. Just a gentlemans agreement on 5 or 6 races to raise entries. If needed I will talk to promoters about bonus for a good car count. 2013 is gonna be better and maybe more of us can afford to race.
