Re: Seats -suspension or not?
Just want to clarify during my crash i was using a Cobra seat. Which i thought was a great seat. Similar to the Sparco I've used over the years in one of my buggies. Only thing i wish was my ISP seat was mounted in Jason's truck instead of my single buggy at the time of the crash. I ended up making a dumb mistake in qualifying and over jumping and casing into the face of the next jump. I wish the team I was driving for had the ISP seat and Simpson platinum belts like i have in my own car. I might not be in this hospital bed right now. -Matt Gerald

Re: Seats -suspension or not?
This argument has gotten ridiculous....I saw a guy in a suspension seat hurt his back, I saw a guy in a sparco in a movie fling around in a roll......
I run a sparco Pro2000, I have hurt my back in it bottoming out before I knew enough about mounting it on the proper angle. Now it's perfect and I love the way it holds me in place. If it works well enough for rally cars that go a lot faster than I do and have typically more horrific crashes than any other motor sports once you involve cliffs and trees, then I feel pretty safe. I have no interest in suspension seats, that's my opinion.
It's all about proper setup, and personal preference.

What do you extremely tall guys run in the non suspension seats? My big problem when shopping seats was that the seat belt holes for the shoulders, came out about mid back for me. Long torso, short legs for a 6'5" guy.
I'm going to try to find something to replace the suspension seat though, and hopefully not have to spend $2,000 for a custom built one.
Feel free to PM me, especially manufacturers lurking in here. I'm all ears and open to all suggestions and looking to buy NOW.
I'm a big guy (6'5" - long torso) and after _lots_ of looking I ended up with a Cobra 'Nordic' FIA seat that was big enough for me. As long as you don't measure much past 36" around the waist -might work for you as well.
Good luck and make sure you post anything you find!

Re: Seats -suspension or not?
Newbie question: What percentage of off road racers are using suspension seats?
This would be a fair indication for me of the merrits of one seat opposed to another.
