    Sonoma (Yes, already, I'm bored)

I have been so critical of RG's Nascar effort this year, I finally just stopped posting. It was too frustrating to watch him campaign left over Evernham/GEM engines that one guy switched over to EFI, when the likes of Penske, Hendrick, etc were struggling with the transition.

That being said, I think Robby finally realized the "RGM" engine program was too far off, and shifted to a partial schedule. The next race on his schedule is Sonoma. When he stopped heading to the track weeks ago, I wondered if he would switch manufacturers so he had more engine options. Penske is the only other resource for Dodge engines, and either they don't have extras or the cost is too much for RGM to manage. Either way, today a photo popped up of the Sonoma car, but strangely it lacked any detail of the car itself. Do you think it will show up as a Dodge?

I am not expecting anything competitive from RG, but he has been know to sneak in a quality performance when his back is against the wall. I also heard RG might be trying to get Eddie Sharp to buy the Cup program, anyone else heard the same?

What did a history of ESR have to do with a possible deal? Just curious...

Questions on the make of the Sonoma car have gone unanswered on other sites, money on Chevy Ford or Toyota?

I'd love to see him in an RCR or HMS Chevy!!! That would give him the car to match his talent. And checkered flags could be a reality again!!!

There doesn't seem to be enough money to prep the TT for the 1000 if he used it at the 500, so I don't see there being funds to race a competitive car.

I'm wondering if something doesn't turn up nearly freebie, if he even shows up.. knowing his EFI motor is down on power.

I had heard he was using the Hummer because of his poor starting draw, not because of funding. No refueling necessary with the Hummer for the 500

As an off road racer, it just doesn't make any sense. If it were like NASCAR, and when the lead TT pulled in to pit, they all followed suit.. sure.. but in off road the guys are all more than a few mins in front of you... they all pit within 20-30 miles of one another, pull in, fill up, a minute later back out on the course... still minutes in front of you. LOL

Really saving 2 mins cause you didn't stop for fuel all day?

Come on Mikey, you know as well as I do that not pitting saves more than just the time of the actual tire and fuel... I'm sure RG decided to run the H3 for multiple reasons. Like shaking it down again in competition to reveal any other weak links before getting to the Dakar rally again. Also having a windshield and AC would be nice knowing that he would be running in dust all day long even if he did win on corrected time as it was very unlikely that he could get to the physical lead starting that far back. I'm sure there are other reasons as well. You of all people should know that RG wants to win every time he straps into a car, I'm sure that ALL things considered, RG felt that running the Hummer gave him the best chance to win the 500!!!

With almost no chance at a win, I like the strategy of working the H3 as much as possible. The bad part is it's the same parts keep breaking, hubs/cv's. I wonder which H3 it was.
