Haha!
Sadly, those "RGM" engines don't have enough hp to manage any of that. Dodge can't even answer at this point if they will be in nascar next year, nevermind pay for a Penske engine in a car that is their best bet for a good road course finish. My guess, that engine doesn't last to half way.

I would not be surprised if some of RGs plan to run his own powerplant is to show Dodge that they do have a engine program still and that RGM can and is a viable option for them next year. Not saying it will have any effect, but I bet it was a thought that crossed the conference table. And of course the old fashion $$$$

Only 44 cars showing up to race, so I'd like to see a balls-to-the-wall qualifying effort (Haven't seen one of those since he was in the 31) and at least a top 5 start. Tired of seeing him kill a car starting at the back of the field and having nothing left at the end. Also tired of seeing the driver calling all the shots when he has no idea of the big picture of a road course race, and any calls made are too little, too late. I'd like to see an all out effort at every step of this weekend, he's already made the big step of stepping away from everything but the road courses. Also anyone thinking Finch would dump KuBusch just before a road course is out of their mind, he will be stout this weekend in that car. Love to see another KB Vs RG epic battle at the finish. Gas on RG.

True, but his "engine program" is nothing more than left over GEM/Evernham engines warmed over and converted to EFI by Joey Arrington.
Don't get me wrong, I am hoping for a great showing. But after watching the lack of hp and durability at the first 4 races (hell, he didnt even attempt a qualifying lap or run one practice lap at Bristol because the car wouldn't start), it was obvious those engines needed work. Care to guess how much RGM has tested "their" Nascar engines since?

Re: Sonoma (Yes, already, I'm bored)
Well, if he did not test, he can expect much of the same results. Joey Arrington is a respected engine builder, that much is known. Could he find the needed "20 hp" and mileage to get them competetive in this race, certianly. But that costs money.......Did Robby spend the money to have this done and to figure out the bugs in the EFI. My guess is it would be much less expensive to lease the Penske Motor for this race rather than paying Joey Arrington to find the HP/mileage balance and the other bugs. Left over motors or not, HP can always be found in motors, it just costs $$$$. Question is, with trying to build 30 SST trucks along with the Dakar stuff, did he have any left over for the engine R&D......We will find out shortly. While I hope he did, I would not bet my paycheck on it.

Apparently Robby is acting officially as crew chief and driver this weekend. While this is nothing new to us that have been long time Robby fans, I believe its the first time he is going to the track claiming no crew chief. Anyone that has listened to the road course radio traffic the past few years knows how this is going to work. Always entertaining, but given the engine choice and lack of a real crew chief, this weekend is running on a hope and a prayer...

He will probably put Johnny Kaiser up on the box he has to have someone up there to give his crew some direction. Is he bringing one or 2 cars??? Last year he had PJ in his other car.

One car. I dont know if he even has the engine count for two cars, nevermind the crew and other resources necessary.
