I'm wondering if something doesn't turn up nearly freebie, if he even shows up.. knowing his EFI motor is down on power.
I dont think RG has any money issues after seeing all the chase rigs, prerunners and speed sponsored cars/trucks...I was under the impression he was driving the Woods Bros #21 car at Sonoma...Looks like that deal fell through.

As far as I know, RG never said he was driving for the Wood Bros. He just named them as an example of a team that runs a limited schedule, but is fully prepared whenever they are at the track. They select races they expect to run well at to run the team. This is what RGM plans to do. Race the races RG feels he has the best chance of running well at, hence Sonoma will be his next race in the cup car.

Looks like a Dodge for sure. Hopefully Robby and/or Dodge threw down some money for a Penske engine for the race...
Wait, just read some more info. After someone asked about the engine, the response given by a "RGM insider,"
"RG has his own engine program."
I am not going to even waste my time watching if that's the case. Down 20+ hp (conservative) and they grenade worse than the ill fated Menards engines; yea that's a good choice.

If he runs his own engine package there goes 1 of the 2 races I was actually planning to watch this season

Also having a windshield and AC would be nice knowing that he would be running in dust all day long even if he did win on corrected time as it was very unlikely that he could get to the physical lead starting that far back. I'm sure there are other reasons as well. You of all people should know that RG wants to win every time he straps into a car, I'm sure that ALL things considered, RG felt that running the Hummer gave him the best chance to win the 500!!!
Really? How so? Sure didn't seem to save him ANY time.. because I stayed glued to the tracker watching him all day till he DNF'ed. He was held up by the Hemp TT.. with nothing but dust (windshields SUCK in desert racing dust btw), and no TT bumper to punt people out of the way. No way in hell you can keep up with the fast guys out front from the rear if you are waiting for people to pit so you can get by them. The results showed.. he was not ever in contention.
Hummer shakedown? seriously?? Now you are grasping for the long straws to put in your kool aid buddy. If he is still shaking that thing down after 6 years, hes got issues. Yes, he does want to win every time.. but the heart doesn't make up for lack of funding.
Just read that he is putting an Albins in his TT?? That is probably the real reason the TT didn't race.

Ya, but he didn't start as far back as RG either and got by the traffic much sooner. Jones started behind RG even and got 3rd.. almost 20 mins back from the leaders. Not refueling would NOT have saved him. Sorry.

lemme see if i can follow the lastest patterns and see how close i can be..he'll be vocal in prerace interviews saying he has a car that could win it and might have a chance for the poll. he doesn't come close but manages a starting spot in the top 15.. he'll try to go out early and get to the front after a mediocre qualifying effort. then he'll pass some guys til he get's to the fastest 6 cars.
then he'll try to go underneath a car [maybe harvick or that australian guy ambrose] for a pass and hit em' hard enough to send both and possibly more cars to the pits...he'll come back from being a lap down but will finish 34th after running out of fuel after climbing all the way back up to the top 5 [ 34th..same as he usually did when he raced full time..oh the irony].but he'll be charging toward the front once more to challenge the guys that are better than him now and just run out of time........he has zero chance to win but he'll have prolly one of the best lookin' cars out there for at least a little while...BTW..ambrose and harvick come back after being a lap down and finish in the top 5 after some well planned pit stops...well, that's a good a guess as any these days with that guy.. gas on anyhow i guess. there's always watkins glen....

Hey, if Dale Jr. can pull into victory lane again, there's still hope for my other favorite driver Robby Gordon to pull off an upset win!!!! I hope so atleast!!!

Thats what I was thinking..IF Robbie has a engine that has 90% of the power as the competition we might have a epic race....
