If this was RGs final attempt at racing in nascars top series im happy he managed to qualify for it,operating with a minimal budget in the nations most competitive series takes some balls,he obviously could give a sh!+ what us keyboard jockeys say about him or he would have quit a long time ago.Whats he got?? maybe 20 employees,Roush has 1200,Hendricks got 1000 and enough infastructure to send a car to the moon. I wish for him he would have found more success but never the less its been nice having a offroader to follow, thanks for giving it a shot, I know personally how hard it is trying to get a car ready for a sat night local oval track show all by yourself just to miss the setup or try and find the new one every 20 laps.....Its been a ride, wish you luck in the future.

i think everyone admires rg's drive, optimism, and competitiveness..but it's his decision making that frustrates his fan base, starting with his decision to leave childress and go out on his own. and having a revolving door policy regarding crew chiefs and crew members doesn't exactly fit the mold for success in big league auto racing no matter how much talent or drive a guy has. truth is, no matter what rg thinks or how badly his fans want him to do well, his performance and effort yesterday was embarrassing no matter how you look at it, and his whole program has been disastrous since day one with very few exceptions. it's a shame really in my opinion that he spent so much time and effort to waste that much talent with no reward and go out like this. sorry, but that's the way i see it. the outcome of the decisions you make are the key here..and as shakespeare says, "to thine ownself be true".

Was looking forward to see RG at Nationwide Montreal rather than the Glen. If RG were to take a step back into Nationwide, would that help his efforts? not as many big teams as Sprint cup. just a thought. maybe top 20 rather than top 40! LOL!

    Very very very well said.

I think with the old cars, RGM was viable. Into the 2006 season, he had a legitimate top 25 team. Going into 2007, he went Robby on it and switched manufacturers even though GM was fairly supportive and he was getting DEI engines. He also took the stance the COT was not going to happen that year. Well guess what, it did. The first few COT races for RGM were awful, one example being sway bars cutting tires down. (Fundamental build and design errors)

Come to think of it, has RGM ever had a competitive race with the COT, other than road courses and plate tracks?

he says he won't run watkins glen . he left out the part about in his own car. that means that he might just be available for hiring out to a team right? if he landed something competitive like kurt busch did, he might drive....right?....nah. he'd end up trying to fire someone elses crew chief......

    See post 66 :-)

He'd get a ride way better than the ones he's had in the past few years. Also it would get him a current car for Montreal. Who ever came forward would accept some speed energy cash also if a conflict doesn't exist, I'm sure. One can only hope.
