HDS5 shuts off during start up

I've had this problem for, well since I put the GPS into my race truck.

It's a ranger with a rewired engine harness, so everything is running off of blue sea fuse blocks, and when I crank the engine it seems like its pulling every amp from the battery. So in turn it's restarting the GPs.

Does anyone else have this issue, what can I do to fix it? I was thinking of a small capacitor to wire into the GPS circuit...

I don't feel it's a issue you need a cap for. Where did you hook gps power to? If you are hooked to " key power" make sure it's a "hot while cranking" many wires in the cab of your ranger will test hot when ignition switch on but drop out when you crank the truck. If you are using a test light to find your ignition wire be sure the light stays on when you crank the motor.

Try starting your truck on "both" batteries. Usually that stops it from restarting gps. Also sometimes running a wire directly from the battery switch to the gps will also fix it.
