“Ultimate” seating sponsored by Nissan for short course off-road racing located inside Crandon’s epic high speed Potawatomi Turn One, provides unparalleled vistas for lucky fans
CRANDON, Wis. (June 7, 2012) – Officials with Crandon International Off-Road Raceway - the world’s premier short course off-road track – announced today the special unveiling date for the brand new, Wisconsin-made Nissan Grandstands, featuring more than 1,000 additional premier seats for the upcoming 2012 competition season at Crandon International Raceway, including two stops of the Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL – June 16 & 17 and Sept. 1 & 2.
What: Special unveiling of the new Nissan Grandstands @ Crandon, kicking off the 2012 Forest County Patowatomi Brush Run weekend! When: Fri., June 14th Time: 11 a.m. Who: Officials with Crandon and top professional off-road racers will be in attendance. Additional: Lunch for the media will be served at noon, trucks hit the track for practice at 3 p.m.
Raceway organizers had a vision for the 1,000-seat grandstands, located on Crandon’s famous high speed first turn. And with the go-to-itiveness associated with the guys that built Crandon Raceway over the past 35 years to what it is today, the new grandstands went up in record time and will provide some lucky short course off-road fans with unparalleled sightlines in the 100 by 50-foot, four-section grandstands featuring stadium-style aluminum high back seats.
“Everything came together well. We ran into a bit of wet weather, which delayed the project a bit. But all-in-all it came together rather quickly and, most importantly, was done right,” said Cliff Flannery. “We’ve all stood on the hill here at one point or another and came to the same conclusion that A.) We needed seats here and B.) The view from these seats will be incredible. It’s been all of our dreams to have grandstands.” “So our goal was to start with a thousand new seats in this grandstand section here, then increase the season to 2,000 by Crandon’s 50th anniversary in 2019. And with the support of Nissan Motorsports we’re right on schedule to do just that.”
Added Ron Stukenberg, Senior Manager, Motorsports Marketing Communications for Nissan North America, Inc. “Nissan North America, Inc: Nissan is honored to be the sponsor of the new grandstand at the famous Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. Nissan-sponsored Frontier and Titan race trucks have been racing at the Crandon Big House for nearly 15 years and the company is proud of our wins and accomplishments there, including the recent 2011 win by Chad Hord, in the prestigious AMSOIL Cup this past September. “Nissan and Crandon International Off-Road Raceway’s partnership demonstrates two great entities that enjoy off-road racing and will continue to work at making it a success at all levels.”
The structure is designed and constructed in Wisconsin with 100% U.S. materials featuring red, white & blue seats with backs and features four sections named for famous racers associated with Crandon over the years. They include: Chad Schleuter (Section 1), Farmer John Konitzer (Section 2), Rick Huseman (Section 3) and Jack Flannery (Section 4).
