Re: Baja Pits/2012 Vegas to Reno

I'll say something so you don't have to keep pushing your own thread, but you might not like it.....You've got a great list of tools, services, locations. What I saw missing in a big way at the 500 was a scense of urgency. We parked across from BP#1 / Ojos were we saw 601 come in park and get out of there truck before they were even approched by a Baja pit volunteer. ( yes I understand they're volunteers ). 601 had to come across the street, use our radio to get a hold of their crew. They had alternator problems. Why the first place you get to not have a radio is beyond me. No one ever has problems off the start? The new/inexperienced owners of our team had rolled the truck handed it off to us at km 77 we had a water pressure sensor light going off, so we pull into BP#2 to have them check the water level at the overflow reservoir. Took them what seemed like forever to get the hood off, then having to explane to pull the reservior cap NOT the hot radioator took more time. Becoming impatient I started to make the double hurry up hand roll at which point the guy with are reservior cap in hand walks to the drivers window and starts telling us that we "need to slow down,"that "we have odviously already rolled the truck,"and thats It's a long race blah blah blah. Yes the truck had been rolled, not by the two that happened to be in the truck at that moment though. Really all we wanted was the water level checked, we had no idea that we were going to get a discourse on racing in the desert. BP#8 we wanted to adjust the lights at the front of the truck to compensate for the missing light bar. They had a hard time finding a 6mm alan so that could be done. These are MY personal thoughts and I relize that I might be alone in them. A little hurry up might go a long way, after all we are in a race, and the differance between 1st and 2nd can come down to 11 seconds. Oh, and a radio at each pit might be nice also. See you at V2R.

I can not & will not respond to a situation at a pit that I was not physically at. I do know they (as ALL Baja Pits have) had a radio, for the simple fact that Baja Pits #1 was giving race updates to ALL who had ears.
