For those who apreciate a good challenge Pt2
I Love it when A plan comes together. This is runner tooling for a private label Mistubishi project I an working on. The major challenge of this of this part is the S shaped tweak along the big curve of the runner not to mention 8 different shaped runner halves. So far so good. I should be able to show you how this project goes from start to finish (although it will take a few weeks) as this company is not nearly as secretive as the last one.
Thanks for looking,
Jeff

Awesome!
How are you cutting your blanks, and how did you get them so close to your pressed shape?
What kind of press/tonage do you use?
Do you need a fixture to cut your ends at the correct angle?
Please post up your solid model of the intake when you can.

Thanks for the comments.

-It's allways lunch time.
-To test the tooling I band sawed the blanks, I will have them waterjet when I build real parts.
-75 ton Press Brake
-If the volume turns into something I will build fixtures for everthing, at this point it is still in the development stage and there will be some hand work untill we get the bugs out.
thanks, Jeff

Did you arrive at the shape of your blanks by trial and error, or was there a method to your madness?

Hi Guys, A quick update to this project. As far as blank size a best guess and a little bit of trail and error. I've got the first prototype tacked up and ready to be over nighted to Texas for a test fit. Clearances in this car are extremely tight, so Iv'e left the plenum off as well as the flanges only tacked just in case something needs to change I don't waste the machined parts.
Thanks for looking, Jeff
