Re: Score announces Pump gas TT class
Why limit it to 2008 and up engines? Why spec the tranny. Seems like you would get more entries if you could use older class 8 trucks and run a spec pushrod carburated engine. I'd enter if I could use a C6 and a spec Ford Windsor based engine with a carb.
It's not about how much faster you can go, it's about how much longer you can go faster.

Re: Score announces Pump gas TT class
Trophy trucks are not going to come "down" to race this class. I think all this is going to do is separate class 8 so now instead of having two class 8's at a race there will be one class 8 and one super 8.

I agree that not many tts will come to this class but I know of 1 that already is in the process. I do not agree with your class 8 thing. The trucks that will be competitive in this class will be tube chassis trucks. Just like class 6/7200. Putting a stock 8 in a class 8 will just slow those pigs down. They are way too heavy to win in this class once there is 10-20 trucks (and I bet there will be within a year or 2, there is already a number being built for 6100).

As much as everyone loves to **
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!** about Sal making another class, this is probably one of the smartest moves they have made as far as making new classes. You can be competive on a much smaller budget than TT or class 1, you can buy a brand new LS3 right now form GM for $9500 with around 450 hp, thats a hell of alot cheaper than a pissed off, unreliable V-6. It also makes for a simpler, lighter, easier to prep racecar (yeah drysumps and braided hoses look cool as **
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!****
ˇAy, caramba!** but with a stock motor its not needed plus it takes at least 150lbs off the weight of the car, thats a co-driver!) and now you have UNLIMITED SUSPENSION, you can only go as fast as your car can handle anyway and most people can't even handle that in the first place. So not only is it cheaper but it is also safer (since everyone here is in mutual agreement that not just any shmuck with a fat wallet should be allowed in an 800hp racecar) With the 2008 motor rule (not body/chassis) this should allow anyone with an old 8 truck to compete as long as the drivetrain is 2008 or newer. And last but not least lets not forget, Mark Miller won the 1000 with a junkyard LS1 and trans.

Haha, sorry. I'm sure they can be pretty competitive. What I'm saying is this is an unlimited suspension class. Just because they call it "super 8" doesn't mean it is made for 8 trucks. Let's put it this way, it will be very hard for a nice class 8 (with I beams or stock pivot A arms) to beat the 4000lb RPM Geiser 6/7200 truck (or same chassis different truck) once they both have the exact same 450hp v8 in them. Do you not agree with that?

Agreed 100% but no need to discourage people with an 8 truck (or protuck) that may be considering breathing new life into their old truck for the fun of it, that's why we do this is for fun, right? Everyone always wants more entries in a class, and not everyone can afford a brand new truck (all thou Pete does have the perfect truck for this class at a very reasonable price, love him or hate him, it IS the best bag for your buck)

Very good point and very true. I think this is a great class and the best part is that I can see sooooooo many trucks that will fit into this class and I like this class because I can see guys like me that cant afford to race the bigger classes full time and have a prerunner can also have or build a really nice and fun prerunner that can also fit into this class and can race when they want. And I'm not a fan of more and more new classes but I think this class will really help the sport just like the ecotech did for C10.

Ya know that Ford has a blown crate motor straight out of the Shelby that is under 376 ci and puts out over 600 HP. It's almost 3 times the price of an ls3 though.
