HDRA and ADRA Partner for Night Race at Primm
Mark your calendars for August 25th! That’s the night for the new Dusk-till-Dawn race in Primm, NV. This long-course event is being co-produced by High Desert Racing Assn. (HDRA) and Arizona Desert Racing Assn.(ADRA). Read on to learn how this came about.
HDRA originally scheduled a fall race at Pahrump NV and then had to consider moving the venue to Plaster City. Both of these locations required huge increases in BLM fees and made both locations unacceptable. In anticipation of exorbitant increased use fees at both Pahrump and PC, HDRA also submitted a permit request in early 2012 for a long distance race at Primm. After considering the fiscal impact of these different venues, Primm came out as the best to stage a late-summer event without additional cost to racers. And… it has to be in August because of the desert tortoise!
Primm NV is a great venue to host this night event. Lots of convenient rooms, walk-to casinos and shops, swimming pools, and camping and plenty of rig parking! And… Everything that’s inside is air conditioned! Saturday’s late-starting schedule gives drivers and teams the chance to relax and enjoy some downtime in the midst of the race weekend. And let’s not forget the infamous TREE BAR!!!
“We are excited to have this opportunity to work together with HDRA to put on a top notch race event for our members and spectators. We believe there is an intrinsic value to the future of off-road racing for sanctioning bodies to come together from time to time to combine resources and best practices for the common goal of creating a great off-road racing event.” said Tim Jones, President ADRA.
“HDRA and ADRA both share common goals to provide great venues for racers, and co-producing the Dusk-till-Dawn event is a natural. These two organizations working together will make for a great event that will answer racer’s requests for a long distance night race in2012!” enthused Robert Gross, CEO of HDRA Race Operations. “This will be a totally different experience for those who raced our Redline event in January. This Dusk-till-Dawn course is a race I have been dreaming about and it’s about to become a reality. It will be a challenge but it will also be a lot of fun. It’s a long course event… and at night!”
A quick overview of this first ever Dusk-till-Dawn event:
- Tech and Contingency Friday afternoon, August 24
- Qualifying for select classes Friday night, August 24 – Lights definitely REQUIRED!
- R & R for everyone during the day on Saturday, August 25

yes its really close to V2R, but I think thats the same reason you are not seeing more big TT teams for reno because how close it is to V2R.... I think for the HDRA/SNORE/MORE racers its a great weekend, im so stoked to hit the dyke jump at night time and use my lights. Im much happier that instead of having to race the SNORE midnight special a month before pahrump to do a night race now I can do my night race with HDRA and get my night time racing in while still getting my HDRA points. I am super stoked for it, ws going to go test at Lucerne a few weeks after reno, looks like going to primm now, saves me an hour or two

Sounds like we should put a fork in Pahrump and Plaster City as desert racing venues.
