200A Alternator
I need to install a 200A alternator in my truck. I have not made the mount yet so I could use just about any. Is there a difference between say a Ford superduty 200A alertaotr vs a Powermaster 200A alternator?

Re: 200A Alternator
The Ford one is easy to get one in a pinch. The Powermaster probably cost lest than a Ford factory one but if it goes out and you need one in a hurry its not near as easy as going to dealership or autozone to get a replacement.

Re: 200A Alternator
Not a big fan of powermaster, lot's of failures on our 8 trucks. Went with a alt built by ACE ALTERNATOR in yucca valley, 140 amps, no failures all last year in bitd. Our trucks need around 98 amps with everything on, lights included. Checked after every race, no problems at all. Pete@EMPIREDESTRUCTIVE, 8068&8033

The guys at ACE Alternator in yucca valley are definately good people to deal with. they do all our protrucks and prerunners starters and alternators and have yet to have an issue! It would be worth sending your stuff to them no matter where in socal you are. Good racer prices, knowledge, and service!

Re: 200A Alternator
There is also the large case 6G, instead of the smaller case 3G for Ford Powerstroke diesels. Major enemy of alternators is heat, and a larger alternator with larger case, more free airspace etc. allows alternators to survive longer.
See:
http://www.alternatorparts.com/6g-se...lternator.html
Their F1-6G-HD200 is a large case, 200A, heavy duty, single internal bridge rectifier option.
